It's a blimp hovering over the Eastern Lake outfall. Anybody know anything about it?

I'm sorry I missed that!!!! Did it look like this Goodyear Blimp that passed by Eastern Lake in 1977? This is a picture I took and have posted on my SoWal History Blog. You can see Deer Lake and what is now WaterSound Beach in background.

Nope, it was big. I kid you not the brief moment I saw it looked like a hello kitty balloon.

I did enjoy seeing it .. no camera .. I was at one of our local banks when I saw it .. and the staff came out to the doorway to observe. As I left, it had already passed Eastern Lake and on its way over Deer Lake.

As I was around the boating incident on 331 this afternoon, I could see it in the distance hovering over the beaches. Long time ago, the Good Year used to fly along the beaches all the time. Would the Good Year have been going to Super Bowl games or something?

Yes, Lynnie. The Goodyear Blimp, probably traveling from the Orange Bowl to the Sugar Bowl, was quite low. The picture was taken from the top of a sand dune. When it passed by we were almost looking them straight in the eye. How low was today's blimp hovering?

I caught it in one of my photo's today but I dont know what the blimp was representing. It kind of looked like a Wachovia logo. (?)

A Hello Kitty blimp would have been way cool.

It looks like the Wind Creek Casino blimp from Atmore, Alabama. It was flying over Perdido Key a couple of weeks ago.

Whoo hoo I was at least able to make out a "W" off of it as it went by! They'll need to come down a little closer for those of us with contacts -smeared with sunscreen- trying to read it. Ha.

We drove down to Orange Beach Thursday night and saw this blimp (or an inflatable replica...) grounded at the Atmore exit near the casino; saw the real thing fly over OB/PK early evening tonight. It's just that the thing we saw by I-65 looked too un-flightworthy, but I guess that's what blimps are for.

I heard something about them having a promo thing about spotting the blimp. You might want to check out their site for details and end up with some goodies from the casino.
