Is it just me or are scooters annoying?

Those rental scooters are starting to show up everywhere. Looks like PCBeach-style has moved west. Sort of like Jet-Skis on the road. On the plus side, they do slow down traffic.

I don't mind scooters operated by people who properly operate them on the roads, in fact I would like one for myself. What I dislike are the people renting them who have no idea about the proper operation of them, nor any idea about the safety factor to themselves as well as other drivers. One reason that I do not ride my motorcycle in this area very much is that tourists on the roads have too much eye candy to even think about seeing me -- add big vehicles to the mix and they have to actively look for me. This does not make a good combination. I have taken plenty of hours of Advanced Riding Courses, which focus on defensive riding skills, and riding to be seen, but sometimes that is not enough. For an inexperienced rider on 30A, best of luck and be safe.

Have you seen those little Big Wheels, 2 seater looking electric vehicles on 30A? -- Death awaits the drivers - mark my words!

I find scooter noise and motorcycle noise annoying. The weekend before last we were at the beach, and a motorcycle woke me up at 6 AM. GRRRRR! It's not like our place is right on 30-A. To me motorcycle noise is a lot noisier than my hip-hop music because you can hear it from a much longer distance.

Golf carts are worse. I was behind one yesterday on 30A. About 8 girls piled in the golf cart and about 10 cars backed up behind them until we could pass. I know they are not legal on the bike trail, but are they even legal on the roads? Very annoying.

The plan was to dress in (faux) Italiano fashions, and zip up and down 30-A drinking capuccinos and stopping at every wine/pizza place along the way. It was to be 'Italy day on 30-A'.

We may need to revive this idea.

semi tangent. what are those fugly carthings being rented up at fatal-sea? they look like they've been sitting outside for a couple of years. as a renter, i would be questioning my decision to rent there. at least they could have been painted to look new.

Those are the ones to which I refer. Fatal-Sea :floor::floor::floor: ...perfect! I still think with a name like theirs, there is chance for it to be a strip club if the scooters do not work for them. :funn:

Fantastico! Where is Tootsie for this discussion. She is all about goofy Italian themed events. I can just see her, on her scooter, tossing Gongonzola Pasta to the crowd like confetti.

OK, I suppose I see some fun(n) to be had on a scooter. It's really the goobers on the rental scooters that bug me.

I'm always ready for D&G, even though lately my body isn't. :funn: So is my daughter. One day she needed to get a dress for an event, so I gave her my NM card. She bought a boatload of D&G, including shoes, and had worn it all before I knew about it (so no returns). :pissed: Needless to say, I took the Needless Markup card away from her.

Anyways, apparently someone has moved Via Colori to October (how dare they!) so we should pick a weekend in April and declare it Italy Day on 30-A. That will give SJ time to buy his scooter and find a Audrey Hepburn look-alike to ride with him.
