Okay I should probably say the quickest route. We will be coming in on I-10 from Mobile. We usually stay in Destin and have taken different routes in. Most lately the mid bay bridge. Would that be quicker or go down to I think it is 331? We are staying in Gulf Trace. Starting to get excited. By now I am usually packng but that oil is holding me down.
We also plan on coming most of the way Friday evening. So we will be arriving in the area pretty early on Sat. the 29th. HOPEFULLY!

I think both major routes (98 and 331) will be packed at that time - and may also have road construction :bang: - but I would take I-10 to Defuniak and then head South on 331 so you avoid the Destin/SanDestin cluster.

Diane my post was confusing. I am coming from south arkansas. Mobile is just the last leg of a long 9-10 hour trip. Good for you though.

331 may be a little more distance but it is quicker than going through Destin.

I would agree with the I-10 to Rt 331 (DeFuniak Springs) and south to 30-A (from there you're less than a mile from Gulf Trace.)
Enjoy!

Mobile east is the last leg of our trip as well and we greatly prefer staying on I 10 to DeFuniak Spgs and coming down 331. We came that way last year on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and it really wasn't a problem traffic wise.
When we are coming down on non holiday weekends we often stretch our Friday travels to Pensacola and spend the night there, get up and hit their beach for a few hours and then drive in on 98 to 30A. Pensacola tends to have more shells which makes me happy and I like driving down Pensacola Beach to Navarre and then thru Destin on 98, just to see how things continue to grow in an area that I started coming to 24 years ago as a 13 year old!

Not a bad plan BeachBumAggie. We had planned on coming into Crestview so we could be at the beach Sat morning. Our first trip to the area was Pensacoola Beach in 2002 it would be neat to see the changes after the hurricanes.
