There are literally hundreds of rays or skates in various schools off Blue Mountain Beach this morning. They are moving from East to West but I don't know if they are near any other beaches or not. Quite a sight and as long as I've lived here, I have never seen them in this abundance.

Maybe these? :idontno: We might be seeing all kinds of wildlife that we don't usually see much of, due to all the disruption in the Gulf.

This is normal behavior for them. I'm not sure I would attribute it to the spill just yet. They are following food and the move is more than likely temperature related...

Lucky you got to see such an event Andy! Bring your camera next time - you never know what you might see. 😀

I hope this is normal and that they are not escaping from oil in their usual neck of the gulf.

I held my polarized sunglasses up to the camera lens to get this shot from Bud and Alley's at while dining, today. The color is a bit off due to the sunglasses, but it cut through the glare.

They are amazing. I saw large pods a couple of weeks again while cobia fishing.

Here is a picture that a friend of mine took last year while sailing South of the Keys.

Just got in from swimming laps at BMB. Rays were there!!! It was super cool to see them and swim close to them - but not too close ;-) Lifeguard said they were in fact sting rays and moondoggie got closer during his laps and said he could see the stingers.

They were very pretty to watch though.

Saw them this morning too! Several different schools---pics will follow as soon as we get home. I would guess we saw 100-200 today in dune Allen.

Phooey! I didn't see them! (Though I did get way too excited about several shadows and rogue splashes.) :(

Guess I have my weekend plans figured out - stalking rays! 😀
