how safe is the 30A beach area (and public walkovers) in terms of walking alone at any time, especially dusk - or even for older couples? some activity looked a bit sketchy at the bramble public access a few days ago. just wondering!

I have never heard of any problems or crimes on the beach or walkovers. Santa Clara Access (at Bramble Grove Place) is hidden from view of Scenic 30A - what is "sketchy"?

Never heard of any issues or had any reason to be concerned and I am pretty paranoid about such things. :idontno:

Being a night owl I've gone for late night walks on the beach and have never seen anyone even when there's a full moon.

Call the Sheriff - giving us vague hints accomplishes nothing.
I can't tell if you are concerned there is a homeless person living there, teenagers smoking dope, BP workers seeking shade, overly aggressive stray cats, etc. :idontno:

Call the Sheriff - giving us vague hints accomplishes nothing.a number of men seem to live there.

we are really asking if it is a harmless situation, and wondered if there are other "tent locations" on 30A at public accesses. a couple of the men have been in the 30A area for a number of years, but this "home" is a relatively new thing - maybe since late summer, but started when the lifeguards were still here. we are assuming it is all harmless, but wanted to make sure. i watch too many true crime shows on cable.

There was one guy living under my neighborhood's beach access last fall, but that is all I know about.
He moved on before I felt the need to take any action - think he was more beach bum than bum as he had a nice bike and shopped at the Tom Thumb daily.
I'd call the Sheriff and let them handle it.

Camping on the beach is illegal so the Sheriff would be able to do something.
Perhaps I should take and post pictures of the homeless camp I found.

i apologize for being vague earlier - we aren't uncharitable, but like the man scooterbug saw last fall, we are reasonably sure that these are not people who are homeless/down on their luck. they remind me of old fashioned "hobos" that i used to read about as a kid - the guys who rode the rails. [andy griffith had an episode with a hobo played by buddy ebsen]. they have all kinds of scavenged chairs, umbrellas, tarps, coolers, tables, etc etc. and the area continues to grow. they also beg for money from sunbathers in a very low-key way. we are kind of surprised that their stuff isn't disposed of when the beach is cleaned - ? anyway, it is probably not unsafe, but may be off-putting for tourists. i have stopped going to bramble by myself. we just wondered if anyone knew anything, especially with regard to safety.

The Don Crim beach access at Brumble Grove is safer than most places where there is no local on watch. I'm pretty sure if a crime was committed, 911 would be called promptly. I have been there many times over the last year and I enjoyed a few sunsets and a few quiet moments when I needed a safe beautiful place to clear my mind. No worries there. I hope people leave well enough alone on that beach.
