This question may seem odd as a post on this forum, but I'm hoping someone here may be able to help. We've made five trips to stay along 30-A in the past 8 years and we always stay 4-6 weeks at a time. We're probably returning next fall and are also considering a trip to the coastal Carolinas but know absolutely nothing about what areas would be best for us. We have stayed in Water's Edge next to Rosemary Beach, Seacrest and Seagrove (immediately adjacent to Seaside) and would like a community somewhat like these areas where there are nice homes, nice restaurants, shops, and of course a beautiful beach within a short walk. Can anyone offer any recommendations? I'm thinking it's hard to beat 30-A but the Carolinas would be a little closer to other areas we need to visit on one of our trips.
Thanks so much for any help.

View attachment 18975You know, there is no other beach as nice as ours...LOL. Really, that is true IMO and I have visited many of them both in this country and elsewhere...
Anyway, I really like Sullivan's Island off the Charleston coast...not the same as SoWal, but it does have its own kind of charm. I will see if I can find a few photos from my last trip...if you go, Poe's Tavern is their equivalent to our Red Bar...

We used to stay at Litchfield, SC which is between Myrtle Beach and Georgetown. A good traditional old beach feel with no high rises, nice restaurants, etc....another nice place is Pawley's Island, SC

We used to spend a lot of time at Hilton Head back when we did a lot of sailing. We also went to Kiawah and Isle of Palms (great because we could hop into Charleston to shop and dine). But once we discovered 30A, we've never gone back to the Atlantic beaches.

Kiawah is a great vacation spot in SC...and close to Charleston
