I'm curious about the E.O. Wilson Biophelia Center. I know the local schools go there on field trips but what else does it do? Somebody said that the Nokuse Plantation is something like 50,000 acres. Is this public property? I also have wondered how much revenue it brings into the county. Is it tax exempt?

My understanding is that Nokuse Plantation is privately owned and set up as a for profit corporation. I can't imagine where the 'profit' is unless there's a natural gas well somewhere on the property.

The information in the website is informative but hardly gives an objective answer to the questions mentioned. I would recommend reading additional information about E. O. Wilson's Biophelia Hypothesis and perhaps get some information on the man himself. Mr. Wilson's theories and beliefs don't seem to be in the same universe with those of us who hold to traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and values. But then I'm not your average tree hugger either.
