It appears that the Walton TDC is no longer part of the Visit Florida, which in my opinion is probably a good move.

Probably has to do with that music non-sense by the performer, "Pitbull" and the million$ they fed his open mouth.
It does appear on the surface to be a good move, the true motivation behind it will be very telling...

Opps, looks like a change in plans. Back in...
The money Fat TDC was concerned about additional oversight "watching" them. Now, they've probably cleaned up what they needed to and are ready to go!
"Those changes included requiring participants to report everyone the TDC does business with and to make paid board members' salaries public."

Walton County will soon be back in the loop with Visit Florida.
Last month the Walton County Tourist Development Council opted out of participation in the statewide program after they said some changes left them with too many questions.
Those changes included requiring participants to report everyone the TDC does business with and to make paid board members' salaries public.
"As far as the reporting, it's something that just wasn't clear what was required and we just wanted to make sure that we had complete clarity and understanding of what was required before we moved forward. And now that we have those questions answered we feel conformable moving forward with Visit Florida," said Walton TDC Executive Director, Jay Tusa.
Tusa also said that because board members are volunteers and not paid employees, they will not have to disclose their salaries.
TDC officials said after getting some legal advice, they now feel comfortable with their understanding.
They added once dues are paid, they should be back involved with the program within the next few days.

Or maybe state vindictive overreach because some organizations weren't all that impressed with Visit Florida. Are you impressed with them?

Not at all.
I do like oversight when we are talking about millions and millions of dollars.

Just a thought. If you are part of the Visit Florida I would tend to think they are marketing to a larger segment of the population. In the past it seemed that Walton TDC was selective about who to market to. That being said who you market to might make a difference in who visit our area. I personally like the idea of being out of Visit Florida.

Not at all.I'm all for oversight, but having the fox watch the hen house may not be the oversight we need.
