My husband is the chef at Bud and Alley's and he is doing some things with the kids from the Seaside School, teaching them to use the herbs and veggies they are growing. What age child and what kind of cooking are you looking for?

Oh my boy is 2 and 1/2 years old and I am thinking Haute Cuisine.
Just kidding..sounds like a lot of fun(n). I don't have a kid just so I don't confuse anyone. And he doesn't want to learn to cook Haute Cuisine.

I would love to see a cooking class for kids. My daughter is 12 and loves to cook, but most of the classes she has taken end up being something along the line of making Rice Krispie treats, peanut butter/banana sandwiches, smoothies, and occassionally pizza made on premade crust. She is disappointed most of the time and so are the other kids. I think if someone really was interested in teaching a, dare I say, "advanced" or even an "intermediate" class, people would love to send their kids. Kids can do a lot more than you think in the kitchen. Just mho.

I agree.. I have a 12 year old step son in a home ec class (it is a requirement at his school)....rice crispy treats...please. He likes to cook at home. And is very creative. He hates his class and wishes it would be more real life.

Knife technique video, cooking technique (saute, braise, fry etc..) I am sure there are videos on pasta making and just about anything you can imagine. I would have loved to have resources like this at their age.

My son is the wanna be cook and he is almost 12 and goes to school at Seaside. Is your husband doing the mentoring class or with the gardening class? If it's the gardening class then my son is getting the benefit of your husband's knowledge! Thank him for me! My son is interested in cooking "real" food. Probably starting with things that he would want to eat (pretty simple) for dinner or lunch.
