U-8 Murphy's CELTIC 4 - 1 Opposition

U-12 Fat Daddy's UNITED 1 - 2 Opposition

:( U-8 CELTIC lose the nail biter in the end of the second half, 1-0. But we could not be prouder of them making it to the Championship and representing all of Greater South Walton so well.

U-15 A.C. just started their semifinal. Do the wave....:dothewave:

What a game and way to go Celtics. The team they lost to has not lost a game and typically dominates their opponents! It was a very exciting game and I think I am as tired as the kids!

That is awesome, Bobby. No way these kids should do anything but hold their heads high. We are so proud of them! It should be added, for the tournament, the rules called for goalkeepers, which we do not do in US98 Soccer (nor do I think any U-8s should do), and they had 6 players on the field instead of our standard 5. Great job adapting to the different demands of the game, and fantastic job overall! We hope all of the kids had a blast being part of this!!

Meanwhile, U-15 A.C.; 1-1 final, going into extra time. Penalty Kicks to decide who goes to the final.....:ninja:

U-8 Murphy's CELTIC Re-Cap from The Gaffer:

Christian,

Game 1 - Celtic played hard and overcame the challenges presented by slightly different game play. A couple of our star defenders from US98Soccer assumed the mantle of Keeper and did a fabulous job adapting to that position. By the end of the game Celtic were learning to play "in the box" and that helped even the odds a little with the other team - Victory Celtic!

Game 2 - Viking had some big players and some really skilled players. They came out of the gate and popped three goals in before Celtic could change strategy. Victory Vikings.

Game 3 - Celtic started off a little slow (I heard some of the players really ate a hardy lunch from the concession stands), but as soon as the heavy bellys wore off - look out - it was Celtic all the way. Celtic really starting to understand the strategy for 6 on 6 with goalie, staying in positions, spread out, and passing game back on. Victory Celtic.

Game 4 was a hard fought battle, you can be very proud of US98Soccer Celtic!
The U8 Celtic played their hearts out - we held the vikings to 0-0 at the half with our impenetrable defensive strategy.
Unfortunately they sneaked one past us in the second half and the Vikings won 1-0.
Afterwards one of the Viking Dads and the Viking Coach said they hadn't ever had that challenging of a game.
The Viking's were used to 8+ margins all season and the Celtic were a real challenge for them.

I am really proud of all of our Celtic players and a special HOOYA! to Coach Billy and the Dynamo players (Zane, Christian, and Jacob) that donned Celtic Jerseys and played with great enthusiasm and Celtic Team Spirit.

We are #2 inter-league but Spring 2009 US98Soccer Celtic U8 will always be Champion's Supreme in my book.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.

US98Soccer ROCKS!

Via Fletcher Isacks at 5:05PM, reporting from Frank Brown Park in PCB:

After being tied after extra time, the U-15 A.C. semifinal went to penalty kicks. After the opposition missed their first chance, A.C. coolly slotted home their first four before missing the final 5th penalty kick, aargh! With the opposition making the last 4 of their penalty kicks, it was now one-on-one penalty kicks!!!

Dalton Shost of Freeport slammed his penalty kick into the back of the net before Edgar Flores made a fantastic save to send A.C. into the Championship Finals, which will begin in roughly 10 minutes!!!!

More updates to come at halftime......................

A.C. Scotty's go to extra time, and unfortunately were scored on twice in the first extra period. 3 - 1 is the final score, but please everyone show your appreciation for these kids, as they stuck it out over 12 hours and only just fell short. They showed great heart and spirit, and from what I have heard, had a soccer experience unrivaled in their so far young soccer careers.

Way to go A.C.! Way to go CELTIC! Way to go UNITED!

We'll get 'em next year!!!!
