Thursday April 29 - Staged Reading
The Woolgatherer by William Mastirsimone
$10 Suggested Donation
Tonight's reading is "The Woolgatherer", the first play by written by American playwright William Mastirsimone, author of such notable works as Extremities, Into the West and The Burning Season. Rose, a shy dime store salesgirl whose life centers around reveries and daydreams, lives in a dreary Philadelphia apartment. Into her life saunters Cliff, a hard working, hard drinking truck driver. He is rough and witty and just as starved for love as she is. Produced to great success at New York's Circle Repertory, this delicate two-character drama starred Peter Weller and Patricia Wettig.
"Energy, compassion and theatrical sense are there."-The New York Times
"[Mastrosimone] has a knack for composing wildly humorous lines at the same time that he is able to penetrate people's hearts and dreams."-Hollywood Reporter

Friday April 30 - Independent Film
Carts of Darkness by Murray Siple
$10 Admission
www.murraysiple.com
Welcome to the picture-postcard community of North Vancouver, where local bottle pickers have turned the act of binning into a thriving subculture of shopping cart racing. Murray Siple, a former snowboarder and sport film director injured in a serious car accident ten years ago, returns to filmmaking to capture their story in the documentary Carts of Darkness. Shot in stunning high definition, Carts of Darkness borrows the cinematic language of snowboarding and skateboarding films to put you right in the middle of the action.

Artistic Director Brook Stetler and Company Manager Anne Marie Carroll team up for this one. If you have been lucky enough to see these 2 together on stage, you know they are magic (off-stage too- a wonderful and talented couple!)

Oh my, the movie that I really wanted to see at Mountainfilm last year, but was too tired to stay up with the "cool kids" to see it. "Carts" was shown late night, after most people had gone home, unless you heard the whisper rumor that it was going to come on late. So now is our chance to see the movie everybody was talking about and made the "favorites" list of Watercolor Mountainfilm attendees.

If you caught any of the 30a Songwriters shows in the Meeting Hall Theatre, you know it is a great intimate room- there are no bad seats, but there are a finite number of seats and we can't sell more tickets than we places to sit! I would get your tickets in advance if you really want to see this show!

I was one of the lucky few who got to see Carts of Darkness at "late night" Mountainfilm last year, it was awesome... Funny, poignant, thought-provoking, and the camera work is spectacular! So glad we have a chance to see it again in SoWal!

Tonight is The Woolgatherer, 7:30 pm. It sounds very intriguing, and I don't know about y'all, but it will be nice to sit still and listen to a lovely drama- I love these staged readings because it is like having a story read to me....
