Could we at least get past Halloween first?

Destin Commons & Bass Pro Shops welcome Santa to light the Holiday Tree! Come out for holiday projects and character photo opportunities and live entertainment with Sinfonia and festive carolers. Then sit back and marvel at a holiday parade with Santa down Main Street as he arrives to light 50 feet of the most spectacular holiday tree on the Emerald Coast with a fireworks finale to kick off the Season! Free photos with Santa at Bass Pro Shops (see online listing for dates and times starting November).

I've seen a trend here to light the trees and welcome Santa before, or when, tourists are here for Thanksgiving week. It makes sense for business. Get people shopping and in the holiday spirit. If we didn't have Halloween as such a big deal in this country, Christmas season would start no later than October 1 so consider yourself lucky and enjoy scaring the crap out of kids before you shower them with gifts.

Santa usually arrives along with Christmas trees and decor the day after Thanksgiving, at least around here due to that week being busy with visitors. Too early for me but it is the tradition. Looks like Destin Commons is getting a head start. Not sure what they usually do.
