It's Sore-Throat Season

It's that time of year again, when we start getting colds, coughs and sore throats. I have a sore throat, today. There are plenty of cough syrups and junk to make throats feel better, but my medicine of choice doesn't have mediciney-cherry or mediciney-grape flavor. My choice is as sweet as honey -- it IS honey, Barrett honey. A little honey in the tea or morning coffee sooths the throat so well. If you live, or are visiting SoWal, go to For the Health of It, located in Blue Mtn Beach on 30A, and buy you some Barrett and Sons local honey. That stuff is the bomb! It is local, natural, organic and yummy!

It is good stuff. Supposedly, eating local honey also helps your system combat the effects of pollen allergies.

As an allergy sufferer, I can vouch for local honey boosting my resistance to pollens which may affect my allergies.

Feel better, honey! ;-) No sore throat here, but a monster headache.

There's lots of good stuff in food that you don't get when it's processed out the wazoo - the closer you are to the source/dirt, the better it is for you!

For people who can not get to for the health of it and want to buy honey. READ the label of the honey that you do buy. Make sure it is 100% pure. Anything less and you are getting a bunch of corn syrup...

I'm not driving to Florida to get my honey, but I'm taking SJ's advice to buy local and organic!

Many years ago, I used to work for a man that had bee hives at our work. Every year, he would rob the hives on a weekend. I used to come in to work and have honey all over my desk, my phone, my file cabinet...everywhere! I tried not to complain though. He always gave me lots of jars full!

Remember that very young children and those with compromised immune systems should be careful with honey unless it's pasturized (sp?).
