Restaurant Recommendation

We are trying to figure out where to go for dinner. We would like to try something new and keep it around $15/pp. We need a good variety as there are a bunch of us and some are picky.

What would you suggest?

Seagrove Market cafe has good seafood choice, good burger, a good ribeye as well. Flip Flops has really good burgers, dogs and I hear their seafood sammies are good. House of Klaus has really good food-great pastrami sandwhich. Red Bar has a small menu but good variety. We had pretty good food at Shades as well.

Have you tried LouieLouie? Worth trying, if you haven't been.

I know its a bit late for today, but with your budget in mind I would recommend one of the many restaurants that offer a buy one, get one free entree for early birds usually between 5-6. That would allow you to maximize your money for a higher end meal than 15 dollars would normally get you. :D I am pretty sure at least Old Floria Fish House and Cafe 30a offer this deal...I think I have seen it at Destin Chops as well...Call around!

$15 per person budget means you should just stick to lunch at restaurants and go to our local fish markets to buy fish and cook at home. That budget will not get you much around here for dinner. Do not forget to to tip 20% on the bill. (If the service is great.)

Ballyhoo has a great variety of flame broiled burgers. They are delicious! We also have homemade chili, fish or shrimp tacos, fried shrimp, etc. Our meals are well under $15 for lunch and dinner and we usually have some type of entertainment going on.

I know funds are tight but if you are vacationing here and haven't had a chance to dine at some of our most popular places then I would encourage you to splurge a little.

The most obvious recommendation is The Red Bar. The food there is consistently great and the experience has become ubiquitous with 30A.

A great place especially of there are any kiddies in your party is Elmo's on the west end of 30A. They have lots of affordable fish options and the best all you can eat crablegs I've ever had.

And don't forget about the ways to eat at wonderful places on the cheap. For instance, Basmati is a great little Asian place that does daily half price sushi and apps during late afternoon.

Finally, to reiterate but also sweeten what an earlier poster suggested-

Most of the seafood markets will steam shrimp for you. Goatfeathers biggest fresh shrimp is 13.99 a pound. On your budget you can have a shrimp boil anywhere you want- even out on the beach. Since I discovered this I've pretty much stopped eating shrimp at restaurants because it is rarely as good and never as cheap.

Have fun!

I may be late to the party here, but you may want to try Gravel Road. We spend winters on 30A and found GR to be not only a place for great food and service, but very reasonably priced as well.

You can get a $25 gift certificate for $10 or a $10 gc for $4.

The cheapest thing on the Red Bar dinner menu is $13. With tax and tip, that won't get you under $15. Actually we prefer (a.k.a. love) the Red Bar breakfast and lunch menus to their dinner menu, so that's when we go there ... quite frequently.

Same is true at Stinky's. You can get out of there a lot cheaper if you go for lunch. That's what we do ... frequently.

We love dinner at Pizza Bar. A Caprese salad at $11 serves two, and a fennel sausage pizza at $14 serves two (unless you have a 12-25 year-old male with you -- these humans can eat a houseful of food!). Drink water. That should get you in your $15 range.

Or, as Geo suggested, the best dinner that involves minimal effort for we women folk who are also on vacay (you gulls know what I mean ) is steamed shrimp from Goatfeathers, plus corn on the cob and a bag salad with tomatoes from Publix. In budget and awesome!

For $15/pp, try Whataburger......for great seafood, at a reasonable price, try Bayou Bills. $20/pp will get you something awesome. Try the fried green tomatoes!

.....or don't.

Gravel road is, fantastic!

My son, Russ, is one of there best servers! I'm not bragging, just very proud! If I do say so, myself! He is great at describing the dishes, making suggestions and explaining how they're prepared, too! I'm not easily impressed and their food, is great! He brought me some cake tonight, that I'd never eaten. It was the most scrumptious strawberry cake and all natural ingredients! You could taste the berries and the texture, was sooo unique! What impressed me the most, was that it wasn't real sweet or heavy and was VERY satisfying!

What a great meal. Perfect. Everyone's dinner was delicious, we were completely impressed with desserts and the price was very friendly -- just like the staff. Thanks for a wonderful meal. Our entrees ranged from $10 to $14.

I invite you to come to Fajitas Grill in Miramar Beach for some great Authentic Mexican Cuisine. Almost all of our dinner selections are under $15 and 9/10 of our Fajitas are priced from $10.99 - $15.99. Complement that with 2 for 1 Margaritas every day and you are sure not to lose!

And if you really want a twist, come to our Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre every Wednesday this summer. More info at www.act4murder.com

Please visit us at Fajitas Grill

See you all There!

I have been several times and liked it, it is just not as convenient/close as the 30-A places.

I had forgotten about murder mystery though!

We ended up at Hammerhead's at Baytowne Wharf that night. It was not one of our more pleasant dining experiences. We were outside and it started to rain. Not only did they not offer to move us under a roofed area (we had our food by this time), but the service was HORRIBLE. We ended up throwing the budget out the window.

We live here, almost a year now, so we have done a lot of the local restaurants. We were looking for something that we had not tried yet, in the area (as I now am not a fan of leaving 30-A). Although, I keep hearing about Fajita's, so we are going to have to try that place.

I also want to try Gravel Road. I would have to say that Donut Hole is my favorite place for breakfast or Red Bar and Ballyhoo's is my favorite place for burgers or pizza!

Ok, so we tried Fajita's tonight. There aren't enough thumbs for thumbs up. This place was gooooodddd!!!!

There were several adults and kids - reasonably priced. Fajitas were excellent, green sauce is great, burritos are huge and delicious, the grilled shrimp was excellent and the kids meals were very good.

Margarita's 2 for 1. That topped it off.

There was no wait and the staff was wonderful. If you like Mexican food, this is the place to go!
