Vietnamese food is probably my fav ethnic, but I have never seen it anywhere near SoWal. Mercy, do you remember what an advent it was to get a Thai restaurant? And I almost got kicked out of the old Shades for insisting that I wanted French fries and not "Freedom" fries. We've come a long way, foks, but not that far and it hasn't been that long ago. One could hope, because this is lovely food, especially in a hot weather environment.
In fact, I had Vietnamese yesterday in a 104-degree heat. We shared steamed veggie with shrimp spring rolls, Vietnamese flatbread with curry dipping sauce, a green papaya/jicama/carrot salad with crushed peanuts and peanut dressing, and a bowl of sesame prawns noodles. A Sing Tao beer and a Vietnamese coffee to wash it all down. Yum.

Nims located in Destin, next to Chans market and Pier One imports offers Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese food. I have only ever eaten the Indian food and it is always good. You may want to try the Vietnamese.
good luck

Thank you. I don't think it is too much of a stretch. There is a huge Viet community in Bayou LaBatre.

On occasion, I see an Asian person, like the cutie pie at the gym today , but we can barely find a restaurant at which to eat, much less a Vietnamese restaurant. I like SoWal, but I miss being in a culturally-diverse town.

Nim's went to Indian/Thai a couple months back, and doesn't really have Vietnamese on the menu anymore. There's a new place in Destin over by Walmart called something like Sai-kyo that's serving Japanese and Vietnamese and promising pho.
If you get closer to the bases in FWB and PCB, you see a fair amount of Asian military spouses and their families.

I don't know about any in SoWal, but there's one in Bay County that's actually worth the trip across the bridge. It's called Lotus, and it's on the south side of 98 after you pass the college.

New place in PC at the Walmart/Sports Authority/Michael's plaze named Rice & Noodle Vietnamese restaurant. 850-763-0060.
I was eating nearby and stopped in to get a menu. All the food on the tables looked nice and the guy who works next door said it was all good he eats there all the time. Might be worth a try.
