For you guys on the west end of SoWal (the entire SoWal, not 30A):

Warning: I went to the Thai Elephant for dinner last night and ordered (and ate) the half order of steamed Duck. As it turns out, it is actually half a duck, not half an order. My belly looks like I ate the whole duck, feathers and all. :bang: The duck was good, but I liked some of the other items even better. I sampled several items from other's plates and everything was delicious, especially the whole Snapper (fish of the day)! Thai Elephant is located in the strip center with Cancun's, located across the street and a little west of McDonald's on Hwy 98 in Destin.

The atmosphere is extremely casual and prices for dinner entrees range from $9-$14. Dinner business was very slow, so don't expect much in the way of atmosphere. I am guessing they probably get most of their business for lunch.

I have been there before, the food was good. Turesday Morning is also in that shopping center, I believe the name is Mirimar Plaza.

We ate there about a year ago and were not impressed at all. But, I've heard such good things about it recently, that its a must try again... thanks for the review SJ. I definitely trust your food sense.

If you really venture west, the Bangkok House in downtown Fort Walton Beach is verrrrrry good. My spouse and I went there on our first date. Sixteen years later, I've never had a bad meal there.

I haven't tried Bangkok Thai yet; I'll have to check it out. But I thought Makong Thai was really good - it's right behind the strip in FWB near Big City Bistro and Skate Plus.

I think someone could get a good business going with a food tour of SoWal, SJ! This thread is making me drool (and that chicken is making me laugh, IBD).

'Points West': AKA the 'Forbidden Zone' to many on 30-A :floor:

We've been to Thai Elephant several times - it's never busy during our visits however, the service and food is consistent and tasty each time.

Thai food in Grayton????????

Whoever opens a decent Thai place in Sowal will automatically be guaranteed a healthy percentage of my yearly income.

Thai Elephant is great, especially the yellow or green curry.

I thought the Royal Orchid deal at Mystic Porte (Grayton Bch) fell through. It doesn't look like they have done any more work on it. :idontno:

we talked to donna (royal orc owner) just a few weeks ago. it's a go... apparently with a different buyer.
