Just Got Screwed by Cypress Dunes

We had a one year lease in place starting June 1. We have plane tix, movers, etc booked. Got a LETTER (no call) from the agent today stating that the home is going into foreclosure and is no longer available. We SPECIFICALLY asked them about this before we committed.

Anyway, if anyone has/knows of a 3-4 BD in the area, please PM or email.

Tx,

Chris

Would like to be in SoWal if at all poss, but we'll look elsewhere if we absolutley have to. Actually looking at a place in Blue Mountain Beach though, so that's a good start. Thoughts?

We all voted - definitely Sowal!

Depends where in Blue Mtn. Good central location, but there are some uber-cranky neighborhoods to avoid so your kids don't get arrested for playing on the beach.

Blue Mountain Beach is awesome and we now have a couple great new Restaurants as well!

We're looking in

The Village at Blue Mtn Beach. Is that not as cranky, I hope?

Whats the deal w/ the beach access there?

Leave the neighborhood to the east exiting on CR 83. Head south and you will end at the Blue Mountain Beach Regional access that has parking and restrooms. It is less than a mile from the village depending on where the house is you are looking at renting.

Great, thanks..what is the story in the Village? I hear that there are no full time residents now? The beach club may not be opening?

There are some full time residents in the condos. I have not heard anything about the beach club.

Village at Blue Mountain has a deeded beach access. It is accessed via the Inn at Blue Mountain down Redfish Circle.

Yes,the Village at BMB has beach access, but according to the property owners on each side of the access, they don't want outsiders on "their" beach, so don't be surprised if they keep pushing that issue.

CScully, be aware that foreclosure is a possibility on other rentals too, not just the one case in Cypress Dunes.

Thanks for the heads up. That is a concern for sure. The one were looking at is owned by someone who seems to be known in the area and owns some other businesses....guess we have to hope for the best?

You could always look up the property to see if Lis Pendens has been filed, to give you a little better possible insight. Not every rental property will be a concern, but I'm sure that some will be.

It's always something - during the downturns we worry about foreclosures, during the bubble I had to look for new places because the owners wanted to cash in on the crazy prices they could get by selling.

Hopefully you'll find an even better place!

CSully, currently in the MLS (which has only a small portion of rental homes listed), I see about 15 rentals south of 98, with 4 or more bedrooms. You might hook up with your Realtor to get a list of those homes.

Have you found something?

Hi! Not sure if you have already found something but I do have a rental home available June 1st. 4BR, 2BA. It is right off of Mack Bayou. I am familiar with Cypress Dunes- this home is rougly 5 minutes from there, still in Santa Rosa Beach. I can provide you with photos and more info if you are interested- kslaw3645@hotmail.com
