Square Feet - New Airport, Northwest Florida Beaches International, to Open - NYTimes.com

Important article in the NY TIMES. Publicity, whether good or bad, can't hurt the success of the airport.

Where do these people get there statistics. Yes, PC has about 37,000 people within its city limits, but Bay County has around 150,000 total. Why not just point out that according to census figures PCB only has about 7,000 residents.

This is the perfect time to write the NYT that their article is flawed. Inform them that the pop. is over 150k in the airport's surrounding area.

"The first new international airport in the United States in more than decade is set to open in May near Panama City, Fla., a community of 37,000 people on the state’s panhandle."

They used PC to give people a geographic reference point - lord knows they won't figure it out just based on the airport name! They did mention the current airport has 160,000 users a year.

“Once the airport is completed and constructed, you’ll actually have a net environmental improvement in the area,”

Clear hundreds of acres of indigenous foliage, drain the wetlands, add various pollutants including jet fuel, oil, emissions, human generated waste, and noise pollution, pad entire area with a small environmental easement = "environmental improvement".

Yeah right!

Just curious as to where you got your degree in environmental science? All the other folks with said degree seem to agree.

You mean the environmentalists who filed at least 2 lawsuits to prevent it from happening?

So if I file a lawsuit I'm in possession of a degree?
