Anyone see the American Idol auditions last night from Minnesota. These auditions are hilarious. Saw a few hopefuls last night but a lot of embarrassing auditions also. Tonight they are going to be in Seattle. Simon claims Seattle had the worst auditions of all the cities. Memphis will be on next week. :clap_1:

Dial Idol had Phil in the top (???) and Sanjaya, Lakisha and Blake in the bottom. They got the bottom right which is not always the case.I don't think so. While Blake's performance was off key in many spots, Chris' performance was more nasally than any country singer (even if he says nasally is a style of singing). When Doolittle sang that country song, it was easy to see that you don't have to be nasally to sing country.
Phil did sing well last night, but Blake has been spot on from the get go, and that is likely to get him more votes than Phil as we near the end. But who knows? Chris was voted off last year, and he could have won it all. Blake has that Coldplay voice going for him and he is fairly stylish, where Phil and Chris have no sense of style (nor do I ;-)). Next off the show is Chris, then Lakisha, Phil, Blake, and the young girl who can sing and has the cute shy smile. Doolittle will take it all. She has been spot on the entire way, even her first performance. As I said before, she is already the AI. I am so glad that Simon finally got over the hump that the AI has to weigh 119 pounds and look really hot in outfits which show a lotta of skin. Many great singers are not necessarily full of looks -- they are full of soul. When I'm listening to the radio or CDs, I'm not caring about what the singer looks like, as long as they are not so hideous looking that they are distracting. A good singing voice can make an average person look beautiful. ;-)
Sangina actually has a pleasing voice, but I don't think he has any idea of what to do with it. He also has a little bit of showmanship on stage, and one day when he puts it all together, he might do well.

Sanjaya is such a sweetie. I thought he should have been voted off weeks ago, but he has handled himself well -- he just had fun with it all. I liked how teary-eyed he got -- seems like a sweet kid/young man. I hope Disney or Nick hires him to do something and keeps him out of trouble.
I would have been appalled if he had stayed on and Lakisha was voted off. I never vote for American Idol but may vote next week to keep Lakisha on -- she deserves to stay on longer than Chris, Blake or Phil (I'm not as thrilled with Blake as others are, though he's OK). I'd like to see Lakisha, Melinda, and Jordan as the finalists (if one of them has to go, either Blake or Phil would be OK, but not Chris because he always sounds and looks and moves exactly the same from week to week).

Paula, you have to be careful about voting for second place people, because if enough people do what you are talking about, votes which should be going to Doolittle, will be stolen, and the real winner may end up getting voted off. ;-) If everyone votes for the real winners each week, Lakisha will get past Chris and Phil.

Grayt post SJ, I agree with all but one thing. I do think there's a possibility that Jordin could win more votes than Melinda in the end. Blake is going to come out of this just like Chris D did last year. He won't need to win to be sucessful.

(does anyone understand what I just said?) However, now that it is down to the top 6, 2 good people will be in the final 2 every week. It will be sad to each one go, but all of them will have record deals whether they are good enough or not. Including Sanjaya. I predict the final 3 will be Melinda, Jordin and Blake.

I definitely can see how voting strategically can end up working against the people I like best and put some of the ones I like least ahead. But, I really like Lakisha and see her as deserving as Melinda and Jordan. I guess I'll have to see what they all do next week (hmmm... guess that's what I'm supposed to do). But Lakisha moves me even more than the other two because of the way she carries herself and her story, as well as her voice. She seems to be experimenting more with her choice of songs and dress. In any case, she'll get a music contract whatever happens and definitely deserves it. I guess I'd cast multiple votes, some for Lakisha, Melinda and Jordon since I now know I could have multiple votes.
SoWal Insider
I like Lakisha too Paula. Something about her personality makes me want to see her go all the way in the business. I hope so. I hope she gets a gig like Jennifer Hudson.
Love Melinda and Jordin too. But I think that if I bought an album, it would probably be Jordins as I prefer her voice, but I think all three are terrific.

I have been in a 2 day seminar, took a couple of new listings and just got time to post.
Whatever you say, Sanjaya stood tall on the stage despite everything. His song choice was vetoed and ended up singing a bad choice. He had picked "Mercedes Benz" and Ford wouldn't approve it. I would have much preferred him singing that. Many people have been speculating about Simon demanding him off, saying that show had become SanjIdol, that they wouldn't release the actual votes because there might have been a different finish last night and it wouldn't have been Lakisha either. What was said was Chris was the one, they moved Blake over because people were so upset that the VT comments - eye rolling thing, that the only damage control was keeping him, saying Blake was in the bottom 3. If Chris went, reporters would ask him what he thought about Simon's dismissal, eye rolling and dissin! Simon had to do further damage control by making a statement about the incident. There was a cut to Nigel, who had a look of genuine shock
I know you might think this is crazy, but this is what people are talking about with the manipulation of the show. The Dial Idol has been right 50% of the time, it isn't the REAL tabulation, but measures busy signals with large margins of error.
Regardless, it is best he went out now instead of later. I think the Idol Boards went on overload last night, the FANJAYA'S against the world! LOL!
Phil finally got his due! He did sing great! Melinda was outstanding and Jordin sparkled! BTW: the song Jordin sang, she took second place with an another singing competition. I think people need to realize the younger contestants who haven't had a lot of singing experience or familiarity with songs, or the stage, have to work much harder than the seasoned, older idol contestants. For some of them, it's the first time seeing the song!
I hope I can stay up for GA tonight - I'm tired!

On The Scene: 'Idol' Top 7 Results Night

Idol_l_2 I entered CBS Television City Stage 36 last night to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" mashed up with Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" ? and immediately I knew it could only mean one thing. That's right, Corey the Warm-Up Comic was back! Ah, Corey, how I've, er, grown to stop caring about your repetitive, tightly scripted, get-audience-members-
to-dance-hip-hop-badly and then coyly-ask-prepubescents-
if-they're-single shtick. Fortunately, I barely had time to pay attention to it given all the juicy off-camera goings-on last night.
Let's start, actually, at the end: Sanjaya's swan song. It's provoked me to share with you PopWatchers an internal debate I've been having over the past month: Is the kid really that awful? Based on the studio audience's explosion of cheers and applause when Ryan announced Sanjy was going home, you'd think the soft-voiced 17-year-old was a puppy-smothering dictator being sent into exile. And before you protest that those cheers were for LaKisha surviving to see another week, I've been to just about every single results show this season, and I can tell you that not once before has the audience applauded after Ryan delivered the final verdict, let alone leapt to their feet in jubilation. (And it wasn't just LaKisha's posse that was standing last night, either.) I mean, Sanjaya may be the least talented singer among the Top 7, but he's by no means even close to the worst performer Idol's ever seen.
Part of what's got me so riled is what happened the moment after Sanjy, Kiki, and Blake (pictured, left to right) were named to the bottom three, and Ryan cut to commercial. To put it bluntly, Sanjy ? who had continually impressed me with his unwavering pearly-white-grinned pluck in the face of so much media guff ? pretty much dissolved right then and there, immediately convinced that he was going home. It was as if the weight of everything that'd come before finally pushed past that smile, and it was just a bit heartbreaking (and guilt-inducing) to watch unfold.
Thank goodness for Mama Doolittle, who wrapped poor Sanjy in her embrace and gently wiped away his tears. For the record, though, the best hugger of the Top 7 is Chris; the dude pretty much swallowed the rail thin Sanjy in his arms just before they came back from the ad-break. At which point Kiki lost her composure a bit too, smearing her make-up, which Mindy Doo then dutifully fixed with a well placed under-eye thumb-wipe. That's why you saw Blake doing the same to Kiki at the end of the show, by the way. Girlfriend's got to keep her face together, you know, especially since the stage manager had to physically separate Sanjy from her at the end so the cameras could get the shot of Sanjy watching his Idol "journey" with Ryan. Ah, TV, you relentless machine, never letting a moment of genuine feeling getting in the way of your manufactured sentiment. How we love you so.
But enough of tears. Before Sanjy had collapsed into Mindy Doo's arms, she had a score to settle with a certain Idol exec producer for that unconscionab(ly hilarious) stunt, making her choose which group of three was safe. Seriously, I really wish you all could've been there to see the look on Mindy's face as she raced down from the stage and started smacking Nigel Lythgoe with impunity. She may be nice, she may be modest, but you do not want to cross Mindy Doo ? those were some fierce daggers shooting out of her eyes, and Lawd help anyone in their path.......

Anybody catching American Idol tonight? Wondering who that man was that just sang a few minutes ago? Don't recognize him. BTW, Melinda is safe. Simon stated he thinks it will come down to between Melinda and Jordan in the end.

I'm watching. I'm addicted to American Idol. Although I hate the followup shows where they drag everything out until the last five minutes when they announce the loser.
BTW Jack Black is very talented IMHO.
I miss Sanjaya, even though he was pitchy. Love the sparkle in his eyes!
