I painted a bathroom this week.
I think it looks like the inside of the bottle from "I Dream of Jeannie"

Now, if I change it, am I discriminating against Jeannies who have the ability to blink and change the color at will ? and if I keep it, will I be contributing to global warming and have scientists descending upon SoWal to study its effect in in grayt depth? Could it potentially raise prices of real estate in SoWal if I start this rage? Will my insurance rates rise because I blinded people?

30gAy, I need your infinite wisdom.

:chill: is this a reddish/pinkish/coral color?

yes, it is bright as all get out, but I likey. looks like you need some cream and chocolate color accents in the bathroom via pictures, towels, soap dish, nick nacks, rug, etc.

LOL Mango!

I haven't had my coffee yet, so no clever reply from me. Do you want a serious opinion? :floor: I hope so! I'll start by saying even though the color is very, um, dramatic, I like the color with the frame on that mirror.

It's hard to say if it works or not because other than the mirror, we don't know what other colors are in your house and what accessories are in the room. With the right art and shower curtain it could be fab.

If you like the idea of the color but want to knock its intensity down a bit, that can be done too but generally requires repainting!! What do you think? You chose the color because you liked it, obviously! What color is it, btw?

No shower curtain, it's a half bath, but art could work if I cover the walls in its entirety. :funn:
I am going to try tone it down with a beige glaze or just re-paint.
Words of wisdom......do not buy paint when its been cloudy and cold for days.

Saw colors like that (bougenvilla, mango, lime) quite often in the Cayman Islands when I stayed there 3 months for a consulting project. I like it!

It may seem "over the top" when the room is empty, but try some towels, accessories, etc. in the room which can help tone it down a bit.

Yes, it's very Carribean. I agree.

What color is it? Brand and name? I have lots of paint fans. Maybe I can suggest a couple more toned down alternatives? Also do you know the name of the color in your living area, if this is next to it?

I loooooove talking about paint. Where are Mermy and Allifunn?:idontno:

On behalf of Jeannies everywhere, I am offended that this color is not working for you.

I do love this color- I don't take many color risks - so I admire your color chutzpa (sp?). I think Toots is right- tone it down with some other stuff and you may like it better. The chocolate brown is a good idea- might for comforting for any guy that uses that potty!

I loooooove this. The half bath in our Blue Mtn condo is similiar. I have two large pictures that are mostly golds & browns and black. I put a black, gold and cream oriental rug on floor and used gold and black soap dishes and leopard towels. Just give yourself a few days and go to
Target and Steinmart for accessories.

Another way to tone down your funn color would be to add white bead board on the bottom half of your walls and then add your accent colors as noted in the posts above.

Well Jeannie (and you could be one, because you have the ability to make things happen in snap  ) couldn't you just cross your arms and make it ltoned down?

He may have to. I've lost some eye sight already. Kinda like looking directly into an eclipse. It's brighter in person. Guess I am just not used to it and haven't removed the tape and hung things up yet in case I painted over it. It is a pretty tropical color.
Maybe I'll beadboard it. I thought of that too Gypsea.

Bougainvilla at Sherwin Williams
I see no Bougainvillia on my SW fan pack....:idontno: Is it in the fan pack or is it one of the MS colors?
My ex has worked for SW for 30 years...so I know a little bit about paint....
I do have a suggestion that could tone it down and give it a Mediterranean feel. ( I would be happy to do it)

There you are Alli. Allifunn to the rescue! :clap_1:

Couldn't find it either. I bet you're right it's one of the MS colors. The closest current SW match I could see was "Enticing Red." Toned-down versions I liked were "Begonia" and "Coral Reef", also "Reddish" and "Charisma."

But tell me how you do the toning-down thing with a wall color that bright.

It is probably a satin finish, so I would wash it with an umber glaze. It would give it a Med. or Spanish look...I think it would be beautiful...and Mangy, I would love to do it next time I am in SoWal...SERIOUS!!! It is not that large of a space...and I used to do ALOT of faux finishes when I lived in Atlanta. I am not sure it would go with the decor of the rest of the house, though :idontno:

Alli is serious, Mango. She wanted to come over and help paint my living room! (which hasn't been done yet, btw). In addition to being very sweet, I think she just likes to paint.
