A guy I work with has been on vacation all week and showed up at work today-four days early.
He said they came back early because it was raining. :idontno:
Sometimes I just don't understand people.

I guess I posted this too late.
"The sky has been filled with clouds mostly since my return on Monday. I think it has rained everyday too. I cannot say that I look at the weather forecasts too much, so I don't know what they say about the future week ahead. They are usually off track for weather on 30-A anyway. Also, some of the prettiest days at the beach are when the sky is overcast, the water calm, with a light rain falling -- just wear your swimsuit. Thunder is rolling around at the moment. Enjoy your visit.
Just in case of rain, search for the thread on Favorite Things to do on a Rainy Day. There are some very relaxing ideas there."

No kidding! I don't care if they were all closed, I'd still be there.

You know the fisherman's code: A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.
... and this guy was on vacation? :idontno: Must be a work-a-holic, or is avoiding inner thoughts by filling time with busy stuff to keep him mentally occupied. He may need a therapist -- seriously.

Maybe he just likes his work. Lately, with each day, I become more and more like Peter from Office Space.
Before I know it, I'll be cleaning fish at my desk.

A former boss of mine used to give people 2 weeks of vacation pay and tell them goodbye once they gave notice, because he knew they would be worthless staying around after making the decision to go. They may even be up to some sabotage. I think he was dead on target. Vacation pay was cheaper than the potential results of someone staying on without care or interest in the business.

Just lurking and thought I'd toss one in (first post):
"Peter, we've noticed you've been missing work a lot lately."
"Oh, I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob"
Love the line, love many others in that flick, love Peter, Lawrence, et al. Any more Office Space fans/lines out there?

We got drenched at Seaside during lunch, but now the sun is out! 30-A is way flooded.

We've had several renters leave early because of rain. I don't get it, personally. Our official line is we don't refund due to bad weather unless a mandatory evacuation is declared, although we typically work with people when we can--if they are nice about it and don't act like the weather is somehow our fault.
Recently we had one person who wanted to cancel because the forecast called for a 60% chance of rain. First, she lied to us and claimed that she had heard (in Texas, no less) that Walton County was under a mandatory evac. due to TS Cindy, which was hitting Louisiana that day. Would have been funny except that we then spent a couple of hours on the phone on a Saturday trying to verify the truth of it (she later came clean and admitted she simply didn't want rain to "ruin" her trip). Since this was on her check-in day, we told her she could not cancel, but offered to shift her check-in/-out days around. No response until after her scheduled check-out when she demanded a full refund. After her and our attorneys got into it, it was concluded that--due to a loophole in our rental agreement--we would have to refund her. For her, the worst part was that the weather was beautiful the whole time she missed. The worst part for us, though, was we lost the rental, spent money on attorney fees and are now spending even more money on even more attorney fees to tighten up the rental agreement...at a time when we are already losing money hand over fist due to Dennis-related cancellations.
As Tim Robbins said in "Bull Durham"...sometimes it rains.
As for "Office Space"--great movie, one of my all-time favorites and one which I didn't expect to like going into it. Stephen Root (the stapler man...also the blind DJ in "O Brother, Where Art Thou" and Jimmy James on "News Radio") is one of the most underrated actors in da bidness, in my opinion.

As for ADD, a good deal of research has been devoted to this subject and, along with other findings, it can be concluded--hey, let's go fishing!!
