Some free sites that I use are:
http://office.microsoft.com/clipart
http://www.barrysclipart.com/

www.picturequest.com and www.fotosearch.com are great sites for photography. It's a pay as you use service, but browsing for images is free and "Right-click / Save Picture As" works for avatars and general web use.

I also have a paid subscription to www.liquidlibrary.com. You can browse for images/photos and I'd be happy to download and send them to you.

All of my artwork is original work from my daughter, using the polygon tool in CorelDraw.

BTW due to size restrictions for avatars, you can't see that the crab is saying, "meep."

Jim is passionate, no doubt, and I have no real problem at all with him, just yanking some chains. He's melodramatic sometimes (drama Queen), but he is right on on this one.
