I am proud of you DD for trying.
Keep up the good work. I know how hard it is and I know it's it's no excuse, but if I wasn't going through this family emergency with my mother, I would be right there with ya.

go DD dear! :lolabove: It's NOT an easy thing! Kinda goes together with the sowell theme! OOOPs.....just read the sowal thread....
Before I quit I smoked every butt I could find...now that was desperate...but once they were gone (and I might add it was gross) I had nothing else to smoke...and I knew I had sunk to the lowest level....

Good for you DD! I'm so proud of you. :clap_1:

They say it's one of the hardest things to do, so be good to yourself and hang in there. And if need help hiding the bodies of anyone who may have annoyed you during this time, call me.

How's it going, DD?

All I can say is that I'd rather diet any day!! It's a mofo...and I did have just a puff today of a friend's cig. Mr. dd came home from his trip with the ebola so at least he won't be puffin' around me. Tonight, I'm officially storing the ash trays, etc. I think he may have forgotten our little pact.

Congrats DD. Hang in there.
Thanks!

Thanks! I can assure you, I will not be gettin' pregnant in order to quit!!   We smoked back when I was havin' babies. Funny, my son weighed 9 lbs.---low birth weight, yeah.

Nope, no patch. Just the wellbutrin which I am now OUT of and have a new script for, but the pharmacy was a freakin' zoo tonight on the way home....where's audie when I need her? And, I'm chewin' the gum. May go to the lozenges and switch off, the gum gets old quick.

Do the patch- it is a consistant supply of nicotine, so you don't have the highs and lows of nicotine addiction. The gum mimics your smoking pattern- you smoked when your body needed nicotine. Now you chew gum when you need nicotine, so you are in the same nicotine -providing pattern. So you need to change up the way your body is receiving it's fix, and to do so slowly and consistently through the patch is much easier to tolerate. Am I making any sense?

Some people may be able to quit using the Wellbutrin or Chantrix alone, but they are in the minority. When making such a huge change, why not give yourself every break you can? It is documented fact that nicotine replacement dramatically increases your chances of success. I sat through 3 months of a support group - we started out with 12 people. The first 2 to fall off the wagon did not do any nic replacement, and lasted 3 days. The next 3 "messed around" with their patches- cut them in half, skipped days to save money, etc. Poof! They were gone. The last gal sadly made it for awhile, but decided to skip the last box of patches (lowest dose)- even coming off a low dose of nicotine cold turkey was impossible.

Also- don't forget that we are not smoking the same tobacco that our parents and grandparents did. Remember all the people who could quit cold turkey? That was before additives. :bang: I remember how yummy tobacco smelled in a tobacco barn. Cigarettes don't smell like that anymore. The additives make it almost impossible to quit without some help.
