The Tax Man Cometh

picky

Only one month to go. Who's done with their taxes? Who's buried up to their you-know-what right now in taxes? Who's waiting until next month to do their taxes?

And who's getting a refund and who's paying the piper?

We're done.
And we're paying.

(not mailed yet, though ;-) )

 All complaints here!!!

I piled all of my tax papers on the kitchen table and covered them up with drawings. I, with passion, strongly dislike the tax man.

I have tried to complete the taxes but Turbo Tax is not cooperating. I can't get past the system requirements (which my computer meets) :bang: . I am going to attempt this weekend on someone else's computer.

Done and in the bank as of about a month ago. I don't know how much is still in the bank, and I don't want to know. Ignorance is bliss.

A born procrastinator, I have been putting it off, putting it off, putting it off...and it causes me stress now daily. I finally bit the bullet 2 days ago and had a QuickBooks advisor come to the yoga studio to help me set up my book keeping system which, when I get it all sorted out, I am hoping will provide me with the info I need to do my taxes.

I've done my own taxes on and off since...well for as long as I've had to do them. This year will be the first year I attempt to do them for both my business and myself. Am using TurboTax Home and Business - it really holds your hand through the whole process, triggers you on deductions you may not have thought about, and is very user friendly. And this will save me about $600+ this year - a significant amount of money for me at this point and for my biz which is still in the start up phase!!

Anyone else ever used the Home and Business edition??

Here is actual text of the scathing email I sent my accountant last night:

"Hi Mr. Accountant,

Please let me know when you can how we're progressing with the LLC docs.

Thanks!
TFT"

Somehow I'm not sure I'm squeaky enough ...

Jill I'd love to hear how it goes. Our rental house situation is a bit complex so we have had an accountant the last three years. I've always done our personal taxes and am completely comfortable with it, but because of the rental house I end up having both our LLC and personal returns done by an accountant. He is nice but not the most on-the-ball. It is the big "carrying cost" that really drives me crazy, especially since I busted my butt for an entire weekend to get things in order early so we could have our docs done. We are getting a sizable refund this year (not the ideal way of doing things, but hard to avoid in our case) so I hate waiting around! :bang: I'd change accountants but that would involve explaining everything all over again. Once again I regret doing it this way. Jill if the small business thing is easy to use, I'd love to know more.

arrrgggggg,.,.,. I feel ya TFT !! I was audited in Dec, and my accountant was JOE on the spot; I was going to change last year; BUT, glad I did not...

It is worth the headache to search for a new accountant if you weigh the options imho.... Make sure you have one that is capable and stays current on the new IRS laws....:lolabove:

Good Luck:cool:

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, an Irish poem that's a propos to this post!

Tax his tractor, tax his mule; tell him, taxing is the rule.
Tax his oil, tax his gas, tax his notes, tax his cash
Tax him good and let him know, that after taxes, he has no dough.
If he hollers, tax him more; tax him till he's good and sore.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave, tax his sod in which he's laid.
Put these words upon his tomb, "Taxes drove him to his doom."
Once he's gone, we won't relax. We'll still collect inheritance tax.

I will TFT - I am an LLC myself (One Yoga LLC) and, what sold me on the TurboTax Home and Business, is on the landing page, it says it built for small businesses (LLCs, etc.) just like mine. I won't be able to get to actually doing it probably for another two weeks but I will be sure to tell you how it goes...cross your fingers for me!
