All better today? How & where did you get food poisoning?
I think it was Tequila poisoning. I had that once. Tequila really burns your nose.

Not 100%, but am getting stronger by the hour. I had to take some cough syrup to get to sleep last night, but when I awoke, I could tell that a major recovery was underway. Hopefully, by today's end, I will be back to the full me.
As for "how," I am 99% sure it was chicken consumed in a restaurant. As for "where," I will refrain from answering, since I have not contacted the owner of the establishment to discuss the issue. I know of no one else getting it, so it was probably a fluke. If I hear of anyone else with similar symptoms I will pursue the matter further only to help protect the publc. As for me, the only true damages were a few hundred dollars in non-refundable continuing education classes that I missed due to the illness -- not worth the hassle. I will just stick to the bottled beverages when I visit the establishment. I've never been a fan of the food at that place anyway. No need to take it off my top 10 restaurant list, because it was never on it.
Rest assured, it was not Borago, where I am often seen dining on some good food.
I appreciate all the good vibes sent my way. I think they are helping in my speedy recovery.
😱 This was the look on my face about every hour for the last 24 hours.

I guess so, I hope you recovered faster than I did. Took me about a week. You know you would think you would learn your lesson about such in your 20's. I am pushing 44 and it just happened to me a few weeks ago!!! I found out real quick, that I am not as young as I used to be, and I sure can't hold my liquor like I used too....UGH. I can't even smell it without the flashbacks of that night haunting me!!! Trust me, I will stick to beer from now on....
Sorry, SJ..once again the thread has gotten far off course...still thinking about you and wishing you well....

As for "how," I am 99% sure it was chicken consumed in a restaurant.Ouch. Last time I had food poisoning, it was from chicken wings on the bone. So now i only order boneless chicken. (Must be hard to be a chicken, much less a boneless chicken.. )

Thanks for sparing me the graphic. I am all too familiar with the unposted smiley, and am geting queezy just thinking about not seeing it.
By the way, mine was boneless chicken, which can be just as bad when not handled properly. Hope it was not a terrorist trying to take me out.

SJ- You may not want to read this.
When I was in college, I worked in a restaurant where the chicken was delivered raw in five gallon buckets. There was probably 12" of chicken juice in the bottom of them. How nice that was!
Not to mention, their walk in FREEZER always had about an inch of standing water in the floor. Aren't freezers supposed to freeze water? Hmmmm......

That's because it was fried. The name of the place was "Nimrod's". Maybe that had something to do with it...
I'm not kidding. "Nimrod's"
Now Guthries, that is the world's best hangover meal. 😀

The best hangover meal is a cheeseburger in New Orleans. I say this from experience as a Tulane grad.

Hey SJ, hope you are smilin' again soon. I too had the horror of food poisoning and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Well.......seriously though it is no laughing matter at the time. I got mine from a late night stop at a bowling alley while stationed at RAF Lakenheath in England. The culprit was a hotdog that looked and tasted perfectly fine, of course that was after hitting a few pubs off base. Without getting too graphic, I never knew you could expell body fluids from various body orifices simultaneously. Hopefully nobody is eating their Cheerios when they read this. I feel your pain man!

Been staying in the Meatpacking District...and late nights when we are stumbling home, we see mean- most of the time it's chicken- getting put in storage and it hangs out on the street like a $5 hooker. It just sits and bakes in the nasty heat. Hopefully that chicken isn't making it down there... It's just plain gross. And not to mention the little puddles of cest pool gross hot nasty city crap that it travels over to get to the sidewalk...ugh!
Hope you're feeling better Joe! That really sucks...

Okay guys...yuccccka! SJ..DO NOT read this thread anymore...it could be dangerous to your recovery! I finally skipped through the gross out tales (kind of like all the horrible pregnancy stories women have to endure!) because it was making me feel queasy!!!! I actually had a touch of tummyitis yesterday and was out of pretty pink pepto pills...man I felt better after buying and swallowing those!

If you are ever without again, try putting baking soda in water and drinking. It works well. Instructions for measurements and intake are on the box.

And then you could just use some more to brush your teeth! Thanks Heloise...that's a good tip!

If I were ever dumped on a deserted island and could only bring one item with me, it would be baking soda.
