"Shark Attacks"

So three Sharks bit people in Florida over the weekend. Please tell me how a shark bite is considered an attack? When a spider bites you, do you go around saying that I was attacked by a spider? I know that news sells, but come on. If an animal has vicious looking teeth, does that make it an "attacking" animal if he bites you? The good news is that there was no news worth reporting this weekend.

If I bite my own tongue, is that considered an attack of sorts? If it is, I think my teeth have some legal responsibility here.

My rake attacked me while planting a new bed yesterday, does that count?

Of course, stupid me should have been watching where I was stepping. I was trying to work fast before the rain came and guess what.... no rain until later in the evening.... of course, this was when I chose to walk the dogs because it looked like it had passed.:bang:

Me too! I wished I could say you should have seen the other guy, but I have the nastiest scar from skin being stuck to a rack with pizza that wouldn't come off the rack! Kinda looks like a worm tatoo!

they replaced his thumb with a toe

Cil - that was amazing!

let's see, what are some lessons to learn from this guy? do not feed the eels!!! do not play with the eels!!!

I think I would have left my toe where it was. pretty amazing operation though!!!

Y'know, I've been thinking on this all afternoon. It's an interesting and original thought. What constitutes an "attack?" As said, mosquitoes bite the same way and so do ants, but we don't call that an attack. Only a bite. I've come to the conclusion that it has to do with size and ego. Ergo. If it's a big enough size--ie, dog or shark--and the human ego feels that it's a fair fight and winnable by man with enough luck and cunning, then it's an "attack." Since humans are bigger (and therefore mightier?) than ants or bugs, then it doesn't play to our sense of being fairly matched, so we condescend to calling an ant or bug attack a "bite." it would be too humiliating to the ego to call it anything else.

Just a theory.

Today, I attacked a couple of No-see-ums, with the intent to kill, and I successfully did just that -- killed 'em dead. Now if I just big off one of their toes, I would consider that just a bite, rather than an attack.

A frog just hopped across my foot in the driveway and made me spill my coffee. Does this count as an attack?

My hair is trying to curl when I want it to be straight...it's even beginning to frizz a bit and is seriously getting out of control.

Wild Hair attacks are the worst.

Mine looks worse (and feels worse) now than it did when it happened. Looks pretty bad, too. :(
