well, I didn't really want to heat up the oil in the pan. I just needed to point out the craziness of PoliTRICKS and the sport of riding fences. I didn't really want to start an entire discussion on the debate.

I love to eat Fried Cornbread.

I fry mine in my iron skillet in the oven. Pretty simple recipe; just cornmeal, salt, water and shortening.

In the oven? How the hell do you turn it without it burning? Stove top here, really hot oil. I like to experiment by adding Red Pepper (HOT), garlic powder, black pepper, etc.

Girl, I thought you were born and raised in the South. :idontno: I guess Fried Cornbread is a country food, more than just a Southern food. I should fry you some one day.

It's no wonder most people don't understand Latin. I've already said my thoughts of September being the 9th month of the calendar, now, I will ***** a little more. Oct = 8, yet we have it as our tenth month of the calendar. Really, why can't we go back to some basics in this Country? Maybe our kids would understand more.

 This is history, not Latin. They ARE the 7th and 8th months, if you don't count the two months that got added in before them.

You put enough shortening in such that it is fully immersed,

The mix is fairly viscous, about like cake batter.

Put the skillet and shortening in the oven during the preheat.

When it is preheated, pull it out and pour in the batter in evenly.

It should only be about 1/2" thick and supercrunchy on top and bottom.

For fun, add lots of slices of fresh jalape?o to the mix.... Yummmmmm.

IIRC all the months were set up this way well before the good ole' USA existed. ;-)

This fried cornbread talk is making me miss Fuzz's grandpa. His was the best. It looks simple, but there is most definitely an art to it. An art which I do not have the talent to even attempt. :(

  • I tried to fry ice cream in a waffle iron at Belmont. It didn't work.

  • I found something that irritates me worse than political commercials: The Sargento Salad Finishers commercial. I really hate it. I change the channel. I don't know why.

  • I've noticed that most of my posts lately have something to do with something I've seen on t.v. That means that y'all really need to pray I get better soon. I would hate to throw something through my new t.v. before I paid it off.

I was just watching t.v., and decided that the "stinky! stinky! stinky!" "Hefty! Hefty! Hefty!" commercial should have been left to rest in peace.
