Do you ever get to be an adult in your mom's eyes?

Somehow I doubt it. I know my mom never was an adult in her mom's eyes, and my mother still gives me laundry/cooking/housecleaning tips that a blind toddler would think was condescending...

Despite being sleep-deprived already, I got up EARLY to come to school to work on a paper. (I have to use some software that's found in the school of music lab.)
Doors are locked. Not a soul in sight. I'm sitting on the steps in my crazy creek chair wnating my hour of sleep back!

But I like how they're spinning this. The 20-somethings are looking like 13-year-old airheads (with ginormous boob jobs), and the 40-somethings are looking like real women.
(Oh, my gosh. The 20-somethings are too dumb to even answer a real phone. I want to marry the producer of this show.)
Too dumb to answer a phone? Like they don't know to pick up the reciever/which end to talk into? Are you freaking kidding me?

Nothing as annoying as being on hold waiting for someone to resolve a customer service issue.................and repeatedly listening to the recordings about how their company has the best company service!

seems like it would be cheaper for companies to give incentives to their existing customers rather than shafting them, while spending $500+ per new account.

Today's random bit of information:
Apparently if you have a credit card (even with a company that claims you are 100% protected from fraudulent charges), someone can keep charging on your card even AFTER you dispute the charge, cancel that card, alert their fraud department and change the account number because of some glitch in the system that allows "preauthorized" charges!
We have a new top contender on the scooterbug sheet list!

The phone was in this girl's hand, ringing, and she's saying to the others, "There isn't a send button. Where's the send button?"
Like I said, I loved the producers. They kept all the shots of the 40-somethings having fun and the 20-somethings staring at each other in silence, like feral cats trapped in a basement. The bachelor guy couldn't figure out why the young girls wouldn't talk to him. After meeting the old chicks, he said, "I don't want a woman who doesn't have a plan or any idea who she is." They showed a couple of clips of him saying he missed the older women.
Then they would cut back to shots of the young girls alternately in hysterics or rolling their eyes at each other.

It's how to bypass IVRS and talk to a real person.

No.
I am sure you have also realized that you don't know how to raise your own children, and that they can do absolutley no wrong, because they are grandchildren.

You may finally become an adult by certain standards (age, having kids of your own, profesion, leaving home, etc), but they will still worry about you like you're a kid .....and regress to the parent/child dynamic at the blink of an eye!
It's hilarious when I remind my mother that I'm a self sufficient adult! In her mind she is talking to a kid or teenager rather than someone in their late 20s across the country! She still won't budge on the portion size of my vegetables ........... but will pour me more wine to wash them down with!

I finally pissed off a Frenchman.Details! Did you only buy one piece at VC&A when the store was full of people buying a dozen of each item?
It's not hard to pi$$ off the French if you're American. When Beach Jacket was 8, we took her on her first trip to Paris. On the first night there we wanted her to see the Eiffel Tower at night. We jumped in a taxi, and said "Eiffel Tower." The driver said, "Je ne comprend pas." We said it again, and again he said that he didn't understand and motioned for us to get out of the taxi. We were incredulous; certainly every taxi driver in Paris knows the English translation. He was getting really ticked off because we weren't exiting the taxi, and all of a sudden, BJ said, "Tour F L." He said, "Oui, Tour Eiffel," and off we went.
Heck, talk about being smarter than a 5th grader? We're not even smarter than a 3rd grader.

I finally got Mom to stop worrying that I was spending "too much" on her birthday/xmas gifts when I pointed out that I made more money than she did! She still fusses if she thinks it was more than $30 so I just tell her it was a great sale . (Oddly enough, none of those great sales are ever made public or documented). When she visited she wanted to buy me a $200 bedspread (just because) and then selected a $12 embroidered hand towel as her price appropriate b-day gift from me!

Let me add a few guesses. You.....
- mistakenly said Bonjour instead of Bonsoir after 6:00pm? :nono1:
- forgot to greet a shopkeeper upon entering their store then proceeded to actually touch the wares?

- mentioned you reside in Texas?!

Let me add a few guesses. You.....From my experience since the devaluation of the US dollar relative to other currencies, it's hard to get any customer service when traveling outside of the US if you are not Asian/Middle Eastern, not when they're buying dozens of items at the LV or Baccarat store when you're buying just a few. Even back in the day when the dollar was good, as an American I felt discriminated against in Paris, no matter how well-dressed I presented myself. I make a point when vacationing in a large city to dress appropriately, not looking as though I were at the beach.

The exception is in Germany, where one is treated with great respect.
BTW ATJoe, I know you weren't pointing the finger at me as if it were my bad.

They absolutely loved me in Europe..............except for in Paris!
I dressed like an European, followed their customs, spoke their languages (albeit like a 4 year old), and had a wonderful smile which broke through any language barrier except when I was trying to get some food in tourist central Paris! I never truly understood what a sneer was until I tried to order a mushroom omelet for lunch!

Okay, I have been guilty of that. As a parent, I want my child to spend/save the money on herself. Just a smile and a little time is enough of a gift for me.
