Or, barring that, having a damm good reason to be getting less than six hours' sleep.

(Poor baby! I am sorry you're not sleeping. I shouldn't joke about it!)

It's only Wednesday right? I didn't miss s/c/ding night?

:floor: ...I think it was more like 18 inches in 4 days. Does that sound more plausible and comfortable, Mango?

SJ, if I got 6 peaceful hours of sleep, I would probably be dead.

My hands smell like sardines, worms, chocolate syrup and shaving cream. :yikes: We just got home from "Dress for the Mess" a summer event we put on for the kiddos. Lots of messy, stinky, wet games.
I am exhausted and in need of a nap...after a nice long shower!

Why do some people build rental homes which will sleep twenty, yet have only one, or in some cases, two parking spaces and no off-site nor street parking?

So, it stopped raining. I walked outside with Molly. Decided to pull up the ugly and detested lamb's ear plant. Bees were living there. They swarmed me. I did the dumb thing and ran, screaming for Molly to come. Got stung twice on my ankle. Ran inside and slammed the door. They were hitting the glass after me. I sat down to look at my ankle. Got bit by a stray on my bottom. Found it and killed it. Gosh I am in pain.

Kitty, did you wash the area you were stung with soap and water? Then apply meat tenderizer if you have it. Yikes, not sure what to do other than a spray to kill them. I have recently become allergic to bees so they scare me to death. The last time I was stung my arm swelled up twice it's size.

 ...that is awful and so scary! Yes, I did follow the directions I found online. I scrapped the bites with a credit card, washed the sites and applied a sting stick that had ammonia in it and took some Advil and a Zyrtec. I am now sitting on a cold compress. I just had a thought...what if my bottom swelled like your arm?

I thought you were supposed to pop a Benedryl for bee stings. Though I do like that planter's punch solution a little better. ;-)

Speaking of bug bites, Alex just walked in asking where the nail polish is kept. I asked What do YOU want nail polish for??? He said You'll see.

So he comes back with his ankles covered with nail polish blobs. Chigger bites! I told him I never heard of the nail polish cure and he told me that's because I'm too old and never went to camp. :bang:

Are they yellow jackets?

Sounds like yellow jackets, so I'll tell you what I know about yellow jackets. First, never squash a yellow jacket. Always spray them. They have the same pheremone as killer bees; when one is squashed or stings, the others swarm. That's why you are usually stung by multiple yellow jackets.

As for getting rid of them, find a safe place to observe them right now, while it's still daylight. You'll see them going back and forth from one or two places in the ground. Make a mental note of exactly where they are going.

They will go to bed when the sun goes down. You can either go out then, or wait until early in the morning before full light. Take 2 cans of some sort of yellow jacket spray (I strongly recommend the kind that foams) and a 20-oz. Coke bottle without the cap. (The shape of the Coke-product bottles works best because they don't round off at the neck; they're tapered.) Wear gloves.

Take a long hard look at the hole, take a deep breath, gather your courage, take the lids off both cans of spray, spray the hell out of that hole (use the whole can) and jam the bottle in the hole. If you have a bag of mulch or something to hold the bottle in place, even better. (The second can is for personal defense in case one was out of the hole on potty break.) Be ready to run.

If there are two holes, this is best done as a 2-person assault.

DO NOT USE GASOLINE! It will kill all your plants.

Good luck. I hate them little buggers. Hate 'em!

Miss Kitty said she was in big pain from the bites so DD suggested a nice Planter's Punch to ease the discomfort. Miss Kitty is known for her love of Planter's Punch.

Hey Kitty, it's cocktail hour here in 4 minutes--I'll slurp one down in your honor!

Are you going to tell me what planter's punch is, or are you going to keep teasing me?
