Going to a friend's 40th birthday party tomorrow night. No gifts allowed unless they are homemade. I was thinking a 40th birthday-themed mix tape. I have a few songs so far, but I need suggestions! Couple of ideas I have: "Get the Party Started" by Pink and "You've Got the Look" by Prince. Your turn.

Hey Pea think of songs from when the birthday guy/gull was in high school..so that would be 1981-1985. You could probably research this on the net and find just the right songs, grayt idea by the way!!😀

Cindy Lauper, Chaka Khan, Three 6 Mafia :floor:
Beach Fanatic
Lily Allen - "Friday Night"
The message of this song is pretty much, "Let's have another drink and beat the crap the totally stuck-up girl across the bar."
But, geez, it's so catchy.
Also: Frou Frou - "Holding out for a Hero"

Is there a theme? Or just great party music?
Sorry. I just re-read your post. It's a 40th bd theme.

Mr. Pod suggested putting a song in there from the year she was born.
Cindy Lauper, Chaka Khan, Three 6 Mafia :floor:Cindy Lauper, definitely. "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," and maybe some more 80s standards.
Lily Allen - "Friday Night"Lily Allen cracks me up, PV! Love her and her attitude. I'll check out "Hero," can you believe I haven't heard that? Sorry, Immy.

When I think of music from the mid-80's I think of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, etc.My original idea was for it to be themed around it being her 40th, if that makes sense. I was trying to use that as my subject matter but keeping it fun, not depressing. :floor: I'm getting the idea most people automatically think of 80s music when they think of a 40-something person, so maybe I'm on the wrong track. :idontno:
here's a list
Thanks for the list!

Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joblin. Always a good drinking song 🙂

If it is an adult party, there is a song by a guy named John Eddie called "40" that is hilarious( a good song also). It however is not for smaller ears. If you could find it on the web, it would be worth listening to. If your friend has a sense of humor, they will love it.

Red Red Wine - UB40
Oye Como Va - Santana
Take It Easy - The Eagles
soooo many Doobie Brothers - Listen to the Music, Takin' it to the Streets, Long Train Runnin', Jesus Is Just Alright, etc etc...
