Daughter, who was studying abroad, had to go to the emergency room because her jaw would not shut....long story.

We received the bill, in French:rolling:. So is 92,97 the equivalent of dollars and cents or just dollars? One conversion has it at $125.97 and another has it at $12,597. BIG difference. Anyone know which is correct?

When I was in France last summer, I learned that the comma serves the same purpose as a decimal in U.S. $$$. So it should be the smaller number.

I appreciate the site. When I typed in the amount in, it converted dollars without decimal points.

Guess I am off to the bank to see how much....really hope PV is right!

Whenever possible, pay for stuff w/ a credit/debit card. You avoid paying a fee for money conversion and (at least my cards) they give you the best posted exchange rate for that business day when they calculate the exchange rate.

Commas are typically used like decimals in France so it would be $125, not 12k.

Thanks folks. I went to the bank today, and the visit was $128.00. I cannot imagine going to an ER here and getting treated with an IV for that amount.

As usual, the people on this board are grayt and have good advice/answers.
