Is Sowal out yet? Our last day is June 6...the day before Dylan's birthday. I'm looking forward to it but getting there is gonna be rough..end of year parties, concerts, field day, Sam's dance shows, and my work schedule steps up with VBS the week after schools out. I think I'll be able to relax by the end of June.

My son's last day is June 8th. We have one more concert next week and I think we are finally done with those!! We've eaten so much fast food in the last 2 weeks because of concerts & early call times, etc. I too will be relieved when school is out - - then all the summer activities, camps, start in less than a week!
My son is trying out for drum major (again) tomorrow. I just want him to be sure and study for his finals with all these distractions - - a girlfriend, a pt. time job, other friends turning 16 and getting their license's. It's been busy to say the least. But to be a worry-free teen is a part of life that can never be duplicated.

Last day for Sowal was yesterday! With the new Florida legislation requiring that schools start later in the year, the kids get an extra 2 weeks of summer  . Oh wait, that means two more weeks of my home being populated by dirty teenage boys. :yikes:

Jesse took his last exam on Tuesday. I just checked his semester grades online, 5 A's and 2 B's, all this with baseball practices, games, and band practices and concerts. I am very proud!!!!! We start back on August 6th. Seems like we don't even a summer anymore!!!

My birthday is September 3rd. and we never used to go back to school until after my birthday and the Labor Day Holiday. They are trying to pass the "all year long" school here. I am against it. Our kids need a break.
Thanks for the congrats.

Congrats to Jesse! That's cool that you can check his grades online. I asked Sam and she said she had all A's with a B in Algebra. I told her she has 2 weeks to get raise it to an A...I was just teasing her b/c math has never been her strongest subject. She takes after her mom...but at least I can figure out tip percentages.;-) And Dylan says I must be good at math because I go shopping all the time and I can figure out sale prices really quick.
Aug 6 does seem really early.:( I think we start back Aug 28.

Being able to check grades online has helped a whole lot with Jesse. He knows I check grades about 2 or 3 times a week, so he has to keep them up. If he doesn't, then bad news for him. Congrats on Sam's grades. I don't do Math either, never have. I have to use one of the cheaters tip cards. 😀

My baby girl teaches 1st grade or I wouldn't know this, but tomorrow is the last day of school here. They return the week of August 13 I think.
I agree summer for kids these days is nothing like we had. The poor little things get cheated. It felt endless when we were kids. Didn't you just love the feeling on that last day of school? By the way, our Sowal kids are sure smart!! Congrats on all the good grades!!! Happy Summer, get out and play!

 that's okay we still  ya. Dylan gets frustrated with me when I can't help him. (4th grade) It's pretty sad.
At Sam's school they post grades periodically. They all have a random number and grades and numbers are posted so no one knows anyone elses grade. I like the online system and wished we had that.

Most Florida schools were starting the first or second week in August until this year. Way back when, I remember starting the week before Labor Day, mainly to get the first few days out of the way so that work in earnest would begin on Tuesday.

L'il Pod #1's last day was yesterday, because he graduated from 8th grade last night! He was the salutatorian (= one B among all A's for the last 2 years), there were 8 valedictorians, all 9 got to give speeches. :yikes: The rest of the Pods (minus Littlest, who graduated from preschool last week) get out the 31st, with a stupid one hour pick-up-your-report card day. :bang:

I love your sig. line! So true!! :floor:😀 We went in there the other day looking for a t-shirt, and the girl who worked there clearly had no idea what/who we were talking about. #1 was horrified.
(And congrats on all the l'il peas' accomplishments!)
Thanks!
congrats to all the peas, big and small! what's your countdown to SoWal?😀 Seems a little surreal to have 2 graduates headed in such different directions--high school and kindergarten.
Miss Kitty just asked me this yesterday, and I didn't know the days, but we leave home June 8!

Most of the schools (public and private) in the Atlanta metro area got out this past Friday.
