State Sen. Charles Bishop hit Sen. Lowell Barron on the floor of the Senate this afternoon.

The Senate was in recess when Bishop, a Republican from Arley, and Barron, a Democrat from Fyffe, started an animated conversation. Bishop suddenly hit Barron in the face, and Barron fell back onto a desk.

Patrick Harris, assistant secretary of the Senate, said he saw Bishop hit Barron and quickly grabbed Bishop and pulled him back.

Bishop in an interview later said Barron called him a s...o...b, so he hit Barron in the face.

"If he calls me that again, it'll happen again," Bishop said.

Barron was not immediately available for comment.

P.S.
They have it on video and it is all over tv....Anderson Cooper just showed the clip.

Wohoo! Barron finally got what he deserved. We aught to pin a medal on Sen. Bishop. When's round two?

I take it you don't live in the crook's (lowell barron)district. He's gotten Filthy Rich off his unethical dealings during his time in the Alabama Senate. There is one thing about it, the voters of Alabam don't deserve any better because they keep electing scum like Barron.

BTW, Lowell's brother spent time in one of Alabama's country club prisons for embezzlement and was still named Rainsville Alabama's Citizen of the Century by the Rainsville City Council. Good ole boys politics at it's greatest.

Bishop is on the left, Barron is on the right.

Sorry for the confusion, Beachbummet. I meant we needed photos of the duel which Skunky says will take place later today.

As a fine citizen of the great state of Alabama, I cannot tell you how embarassing this is. For those who want a lesson on real Southern politics, I strongly recommend attending a legislative session in Montgomery.

As a former fine citizen of Alabama I can also say that this is embarrassing but kind of entertaining when you think about it. This kind of thang happens everywhere. Wasn't there a video out about some fightin' Japanese a few months ago?

Oh, I know that, I just thought everyone would like to see how they stack up against one another for the duel.

Which one would you put your money on?

I'd put my money on the crook. :funn: Oh, wait a minute. They are both politricktions. I'll go with Sen. Barron. With a name like that, it just sounds like he would be a good fighter. Remember the Red Barron? Plus, Sen Bishop was just too angry and angry people often lose fights to the non-angry. Did you see the way Sen Barron, rolled back with the punch? Look at his face while he is lying back on the desk. He doesn't look scared at all.

Watching the video, I think it is interesting to notice that many other politricktions are just continueing, business as usual, like an argument and thrown punches take place on the Senate floor everyday.

Now, my favorite cousin that lives somewhat near Rainsville said she knows this guy and after he embezzelled people's money and so many people were almost forclosed on, he got religion!!!

And if you have never been to a funeral in Rainsville, Alabama, it is almost like they play the "Deliverance" music in the background - I have never in my life been to anything like it before & hope to NEVER go again - honestly!!!😱
