:floor: I literally sleep with a dog, in particular, a standard poodle, as well as with my sweet husband.
The topic of this thread relates to a funny story. When I was at the beach two weeks ago, I noticed a tiny deer tick on me. Because it was embedded, I went to a clinic in SoWal to get a prescription for Minocycline. The physician's assistant asked what was wrong. When I started out by saying, "I sleep with a dog," we both started laughing. I told him I wasn't referring to my husband and that I literally sleep with a dog; he said, "That's okay. I've slept with a few dogs myself." The jokes kept rolling, such as when I said, "It's been ten years since I've slept with a dog because the last one slept in the dog house outside.":funn:
Seriously, the dog groomer said that ticks are really bad this year, even for dogs on Frontline. So if you sleep with a dog, check yourself frequently for ticks.
Just out of curiosity, how many of you sleep with a dog?😀

I do. And I do check myself regularly.

2 dogs start out on the bed. The first dog moves to the chair after a few minutes. The other dog moves under the bed, under me. The first dog wakes Bdarg up every morning for food, eats it, then gets back in bed with me and goes back to sleep. The second dog goes to her kennel, looks at her food, goes back to sleep there, and eats breakfast much later.

I try to stay fairly sober at the bars, so that doesn't happen. Oh, you mean the K9 variety? Only when camping, otherwise, they stay out of my bedroom.

:funn: I'm surprised I figured you would have a bed full of them. Dogs that is...the fury kind. ;-)

Not only does your wife sleep with a dog, she sleeps with a dog which has your name. No wonder you have a

Only during a thunderstorm. When my son FINALLY outgrew the fear of thunder and quit getting in bed with us, then Eddie (the dog) starting taking his place.

When I slept with two dogs (again, the furry kind as in two miniature poodles), they both liked to sleep under the covers (one at our feet, the other with her head on the pillow and tucked in like a little princess. They were very jealous of each other, and when we would accidentally touch one of them, that dog would think it was the other dog invading her space. So we'd hear one growl, then the other would growl, and it would escalate into a big ball of poodles fighting under the covers. I have scars on my arms from separating them (they'd bite thinking that it was the other dog, not me).

:lol:Miniature poodles can get scrappy too. My little John (semi-miniature poodle) was very possessive of his spot on the bed. He would growl until Rudy slinked off and sulked to another room. Now HE has taken John's spot. He's a big, snuggly baby.

I sleep with two dogs. One is at the top of the bed and the other sleeps at the foot. My husband travels quite a bit and the dog will not let him sleep in the bed. She puts her toes is his side and pushes him out. It is funny that 14 pounds can be so forceful.

Our very cuddly warm pup either sleeps at the foot of my bed or with Sam. She's very warm in the winter and a good snuggler. 🙂

Well, our dogs never slept with us.They always liked a cold floor but I just found a tick crawling on the quilt on our bed. :yikes: And my husband was down at his mother's Tuesday and she has many outdoor cats. So I am sure he picked that tick up either down there or while outside using the chainsaw in our backyard the other day to cut up that tree that fell. It is very wooded here, it was not a really small tick though but a tick is a tick. Yuck.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Bailey and Guinness are very generous with our 4 inches of bed. The 11 lbs wonder can take up more surface than me! I think people sneak into my house while I'm gone and spoil these dogs. It's one of those senseless crimes.:blush:

3 dogs - The biggest sleeps on my feet, legs, whatever she can get and the proceeds to lie cross ways (is that a word?) I cannot kick her, move her at all - she becomes dead weight, about 70 lbs of it! She puts her chin on the bed and howls until I say get up! I either can try to outlast her howling or just give in and say get up. She stays that way until the dog across the street starts barking.
The other 2 take turns with our kids, they always switch off. Griff is the last to get up in the morning, doesn't care if there is food or not. Only time this ever changes is when there are thunderstorms or bombs. Then I have 2 dogs in my bed - one on my head - who weighs about 50-60 lbs.
