I have lived here for 11 years and still have not chosen a school/team to root for... Is there really a difference??? Should I commit to a team? I have noticed that a lot of people are hell bent on one team or another... Any ideas on this? What team do you like?

My brother turned me on to this one:
Differential "X"!,
Differential "Y"!
"A" square, "B" square
Integral of pi!
Engineers touchdown!
Engineers yell!
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets!
Fight like hell!
My own alma mater?
Belmont College
Oh I mean U-ni-ver-si-ty!
If you go there too
You can sing as good as me!
But I came from a high school with one of the top 10 weirdest mascots (the Gainesville High School Red Elephants) so I'm drawn by the unique rather than who has the highest-grossing football program...

It's Florida. Not only is it perfectly acceptable to still have an allegiance to where you grew up, but if you slap a bumper sticker on your car or wear the sweatshirt of Obscure to the Panhandle College, then the odds are fairly good that you'll end up meeting up with every other person who now lives in the area, and who went to Obscure to the Panhandle College some time in the past 50 years.
Allez Red Wings, and go Albion College Britons and Michigan Wolverines!

Auburn, duh. I'm not going to say much about the others, but it's a safe bet.;-)

Nevertheless, as a parent it's a great place to send you kid to college. Nice, small, safe college town, not too far from the ATL or the beach, and it is "uptown" enough to even have a jewelry store that sells Rolexes! It's basically a well-rounded college town where you can get a good education without the pressure of the more prestigious institutions. And have funn. Or be an over-educated nerd (one of my friends just got his Ph.D. there).
Right now in the State of Florida, UF rules. FSU ruled at one time. It's all cyclical.

Well God knows every college town needs one of these. Gives the students something to shoot for in life. A real job where you can afford to buy yourself a Rolex!!!!! 😀

well, I'm a bama girl, born and raised and got the degree(s). however, after being in Florida for so long, I could care less about bama or auburn (yuck!). it's not even relevant in this state. Florida Gators all the way.

If you can't go to college, go to Georgia...;-) (Sorry, SJ. Couldn't resist.)

How about them Cowboys?
BR...puhlease...they should be striving for a Patek, not a nasty little Rolex. I wonder if this little tidbit has made it to the College "dictionaries" H.S. students use to learn about schools?

I buy "disposables"- watches that last about 1 to 2 years, and the battery dies about the time the finish wears off.:floor: I don't think Bdarg realizes how lucky he is that I don't crave sparkly things!

Me too! Sportin' the Target watch today ($12) I like to get a year out of them. I'm usually bored with them before they wear out. No commitment to watches. But I was married for over 20 years so I CAN commit, just not with watches.

If you can't go to college, go to Georgia...;-) (Sorry, SJ. Couldn't resist.)I thought she was looking for a team for which to chear. :idontno: On second thought, maybe she should cheer for GA Tech, since they need all the help they can get. :funn:

How about them Cowboys? :blink:Do they still hold the NFL record as having the most convicted felons on their team?

i think perhaps the bengals hold that title now...

How about them Cowboys? :blink:I'm not saying that having a Rolex store in town is an indicator of how good a school is. I'm just saying that, despite the fact that my Auburn friends joke about the town being hicksville, it *is* upscale enough to have a store that sells Rolexes. Heck, we don't even have a Target where I live. Or a Starbucks.

And, again, I think that Auburn is a great place to go to school.
But to answer your original question, momof2kids, if you don't have a school to root for and if you're living in Florida, it seems like you ought to root for a Florida team. And right now, that would be UF.
