Have you ever heard of the Master Cleanser? Cayenne pepper, lemon, water and syrup? I feel like I need to cleanse. What are your thoughts on this before I commit to not eating for 10 days.

You mix all that stuff up, drink it 8-12 times a day and you poo (get rid of) toxins.

since when do you need help pooing :funn: the first question you ask people when you stay with them is "do you have strong pipes"

I remember reading that Princess Diana was into colon cleansing. But you can buy magnesium citrate at the pharmacy that people take before colonoscopies that would be better than the concoction you're describing. Just drink plenty of GATORaide and eat jello.

My unasked for 2 cents. Research it online for a few days reading both for and against opinions I did and I was able to make what I feel was a more informed decision. My Dad would've done it. He also fed his dog blue/green algae shakes. Oh and going through an ayurvedic phase (my dad not the dog) drank a cup of urine in the mornings
. Research that for a few days b4 starting too if that sounds enticing. A friend of my mom's did it (the master cleanser not the tinkle) and he is 62, he loved it but I wouldn't want my mom doing it. Weight comes back quick and I am not so sure about "detoxing" after looking around. Good luck either way
oh p.s. it seemed the blue'green algae shakes were the canine fountain of youth Iggy (the dog) stayed in great puppy-like health 'til he keeled over at 15 with hereditary lung tumors.

Yikes!!! How about researching a little on digestion.....especially of certain foods.....and eat right (digestion friendly foods!!) for designated days and then let your body do its best work as it was designed to do....I think perhaps some of this stuff (including the "official" colon cleansing) becomes very addictive
for some....btw...Dr. Oz....Oprah's guru had a segment recently on this cleansing stuff and it was interesting and quite informative....maybe he has a website....
BE CAREFUL!!

The Master Cleanser book has been around a LONG time. It works. Will it make you sick? Probably. That's what cleansing does. It gets the toxins out.
S#!+ in, means S#!+ out.
If someone is really full of toxins, yes, they can be so sick they'll want medical help. When toxins come out, it causes the Herxheimer Reaction, flu-like symptoms.... fever, chills, nausea, etc.
The be careful statement is a good one, but I'd go for the Master Cleanser over Mag Cit drink or enema & jello. That's not a cleanse in the way that you are seeking in the Master Cleanser. BUT do you have an ND, MD, nutritionist or chiropractor that will be there for assistance in this cleanse?
Good luck!

Not sure what skunky's experience is with cleansing but peaboy has many years of direct experience and will be glad to help you out.

Don't do it! It may clean you out, but will mess up your system. I am sure there are much gentler and healthier methods.

If you are going to starve yourself you may as well drink something that's full of healthy stuff. Check this stuff out. www.organicfrog.com. It makes you feel healthy. I started with pineapple juice but now just drink it with straight water. Hey, sounds like it worked for elgordoboy's dad's dog .
They even sell green energy chewable tabs

Rachel and I have done many cleanse programs over the years. We still do full body cleansing with the changes of the seasons (4 times a year). My biggest advice for a first timer would be to consult with your qualified health care professional. Make sure the timing is right, ie: blood pressure issues, diabetis and or blood sugar issues or other problems.
The Master cleanse is an old school cleanse if you will. There are many newer programs that I have had better success with.
When we cleanse, we listen to our bodies... So many people will say, "do this for ten days and only drink this..." Horse poop. I have gone through a cleanse for as long as 24 days when I set out to do 5 days and I have also gone less than 24 hours when I intended to do 7-10 days. Yes, a cleanse can and often does make you feel bad as you are eliminating waste, however if you are feeling as if your world is going to end, eat something.
Before we start we tend to go raw for 3-4 days. Fresh salads with lots of greens, avocado, sprouts, sprouted beans, ext... This tends to help get the body in a pre-cleanse state and makes the cleanse easier.
When we finish the cleanse, we ease back into a food diet by doing the same with the fresh salads, ext..
Some staples that we keep handy when going through a cleanse are: avocados-a good source of protein and fats, apples, cashews, almonds (sprouted) and carrots. Once again, listen to your body, if it is miserable, eat an avo or something.
Thats my take on cleansing. I hope this helps.

Thanks peaboy. Interesting. So in other words, you don't have to starve yourself by not eating at all in order to cleanse.

I have gone the starving way many, many years ago. Not again. I feel you can cleanse just as well and or better by adding good nutriets to your system as you go.
Yes, I lke green drinks. I have one everyday.

We've been making and selling maple syrup for 20 years. We live in a touristy area much like SoWal, but in Vermont, so we see a lot of people. We've been asked so frequently about "the Master Cleanser diet" that I contacted the University of Vermont's maple research center and requested nutritional info that I could pass along to our customers who were insisting that this book recommended grade B syrup because of its health benefits. There are only trace minerals and trace vitamins present in any grade of maple syrup, and one grade of syrup is no more beneficial than another.
I would listen to the folks prescribing common sense, care, and moderation.
Gotta run wicked thunderstorm!

Most of the time, I make my own green drink from fresh organic kale, spinach, parsley, celery, chard, and beet tops.
For ease and time limitations, I will mix either Dr.Schulzes Super Food (a powdered mix of over 50 vegetables and fruits) with apple juice or Greens + another powdered form of veggies with apple juice.
Knudsen also makes a nice bottled drink called Mega Green that taste pretty good.

Thanks for the insight! I have a lot of friends who started this, wanted to do it for 5 days, and did it for 20 something. So I feel like if they can handle it, I can do it, right?
Will it make me violently sick? I don't want to come to work if I'm going to be throwing up.
And what is the process of coming off of the cleanse?

Explain to me, and I'm not being flip here...
Don't we have kidneys and other organs that cleanse toxins for us?
What do these diets do that our bodies cannot do?

There is no way doing the described "cleanse" for 20 days is healthy!
Don't mess with Mother Nature - anything that makes your body feel bad is not good for you!!! Discomfort and pain are your body telling you something is wrong not "toxins" leaving. Your body is constantly getting rid of toxins without discomfort - that's why you sweat, pee, and poo.
If you are not feeling 100% well and feel the need to do something proactive I am SURE your physician can recommend a variety of things including a change to a healthier diet. Just because someone on Sowal hasn't had major health problems from doing it doesn't mean it's safe.
