Despite my thoughts on the current president and his war, imagine what we could do domestically with that much money. I can, socialized medicine would be a start...

help Gulf Coast victims of Katrina, replace equipment for National Guard units, increase teachers' salaries, feed homeless people, especially mothers and children, fund more research for cures for all kinds of diseases, secure the ports; revamp the air traffic controller systems that are failing; fix the satellite that we use for hurricane predictions; hire more firefighters for all these awful forest fires; increase the salaries of the men and women in uniform who serve us so bravely; fix the social security problems; find a solution to inforcing the immigration laws; maybe even hire some top management people at Homeland Security--according to the news last night many of the top level positions are vacant!

IMO the list is endless for domestic needs.

How about the novel concept of the government never seizing excessive moolah out of our paychecks in the first place? It is nice to dream about what 'they' could do with it, but the clear precedent is that 'they' will piss it away and keep coming back to the taxpayers for more.:bang:

Just for fun here - do you believe that the federal government should pay teachers salaries, feed the homeless, fund medical research, predict the weather, and pay local firefighters and police officers?

Damn it Skunkape, there goes our confidential but generous offer to sell to the feds for 144 billion (2005 appraised values, of course) the 30-A communities of Rosemary, Alys, Seaside, Watercolor, Watersound, etc. for use by Katrina victims, the homeless, the uninsured, the under insured and various other forms of the downtrodden. Yea, give it back to the taxpayers in the form of tax cuts -------how stupid. Hopefully, the buyer didn't read your post.

I'd love to see us start focusing and spending as much money on OUR country as we do on others.

There are a variety of social issues and crumbing infrastructure that would greatly benefit!
