True story, happened today in Panama City Beach.
I'm behind this young fellow at the Ace hardware store. He has bought something that rings up for $2.19. "Do ya'll take American Express?", he asks the cashier. "Yeah," she answers, "but the minimum charge is $10". So, this guy who obviously has nothing but plastic says "OK, I'll take one of these too," and fishes an Auburn University logo plate for the front of a car (truck?) off of a rack holding Auburn, Florida and FSU junk. Total was then $15 and something cents...you gotta love it!:floor:

I think you would have laughed twice as hard if you were behind me at Williams-Sonoma yesterday. I took three items to the check-out counter and gave them a gift card. My purchases used up the entire card but I was 15 cents short. The cashier said the register would accept cash only to comlete the transaction. I fished around my wallet and all I had was 8 cents. (I'm surprised I had that much. ;-) ). I guess I could have bought one less thing but I wanted it all, so I had to do what that guy in the hardware store did and get something I could charge so I could cover the 15 cents I owed.
Mad scramble to find something that didn't cost much since I had to buy something I essentially didn't need in order to get something I did. Finally I found a cute little paring knife for $9, but not before the manager came over to see what the cashier was flustered about. He dug 15 cents out of his pockets to pay my bill but made me promise to buy the knife anyway. So I did.
