It also scares me. My step dad just bought front row box seats near first base to take Dylan to a game. We went a couple of weeks ago and were sitting close and they caught a ball. I'm always afraid I'm going to get hit.

That is a very sad story OL. :( We have similar seats at the stadium and you always have to pay attention!!! A bat that split in two came our way one evening. 😱

That is very sad. Just an FYI, you have to take one of the http:// off to read the story, and make sure you have a ":" after the http.

Nevermind.....I see you edited. 😉

It's awful. Mr. Pod said he heard a radio interview this morning where Tony LaRussa was asked for a comment on the story, and Tony didn't even know it had happened. Awful way to find out.

I had an opportunity to talk with this guy before a game several years ago when he was playing for Indianapolis' local AAA club. Although you can never speak accurately to somebody's character after just a brief conversation, he came off as a genuinely nice person who really loved being a baseball player.

Another reminder that life is precious. :(

Death from this kind of thing is a bit of a freak accident (the kid in Grapevine was very sad) but makes you wonder why the base coaches aren't wearing batting helmets, as the baserunners have to.

I have recently witnessed a couple of fastpitch softball coaches wearing helmets---smart. I was playing in highschool when a coach was hit (in the temple) by an overthrow. She had a major head injury but recovered. I hope some will make the personal choice to wear helmets even if not required.

This situation is just so sad, and being w/ the team for only a short while. I know Tulsa will rally around the family as okies are known to do. My prayers go out to all his family and friends.
