One of my favorite movies. It started on IFC about 15 minutes ago. It's worth renting if you can.

I haven't watched this movie but the director's other film, Cinema Paradiso, is one of our all-time favorites. Alex watched it so many times when he was younger that he knew practically all the dialogue. He'd mimic "Alfredo! Alfredo!" and we'd all crack up because it sounded exactly like in the movie. I'm sure The Legend of 1900 is just as good so I'll put it in our queue.

We watch IFC a lot (when I can tear myself away from a reality show ;-)) and sorry we missed this movie.
Did anyone see "The Magdalene Sisters" last week? Heartbreaking film about the Magdalene Convent in Ireland during the '60's. I had always heard about the brutal manual labor in these laundry's. The physical and psychological, degrading abuse these supposedly wayward young girls endured for the rest of their lives. Understandably, the Vatican officially condemned this film after its premiere. Very good movie, very informative.

JohnRudy, JohnRudy, I hope I haven't made you feel self-conscious about your reality TV addictions. I'm glad you leave some time for watching good movies...on TV.

I saw the "The Magdalene Sisters" a couple of years ago and also found it to be very good & informative....and haunting. "Evelyn" is another somewhat similar good movie.
