Auburn and GT just kicked off a few minutes ago, and GT is looking great against the Tigers in Jordan Hare Stadium. Three drives so far, and GT has scored a touchdown, extra point, and a field goal. Auburn nothing. Of course the first three quarters don't really matter anyway.

Well we are Tech fans and hope springs eternal. But you are correct. It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. She usually sings for someone other than the "Bees". Both my brothers are UGA fanatics and have tried to torment me all night on IM.

Gators are 1-0. We have another warm up game before UT comes to town and I like to take games one at a time and I didn't want to pick on the vols yet but:

UT is Gatorbait!

Hey, I can still be a DAWG and not watch most of the games. I received my training at UGA's Sanford Stadium on game days filled mostly with bourbon, coke and conversation. I think they played the games during the parties.

Yep - the games were on the other side of the hedges from the party.

Thanks goodness you've reached a stage in life where you don't have to ruin even a cheap bourbon with a coke.

ROLL TIDE !!!!!! We didn't look that strong, but at least we won. What the heck happened to you Auburn Tigers??? I think they need to be looking for another quarter back, 5 turnovers in the second half.....it was not a pretty sight!!!

Hope the rest of your teams won!!!!

Only part of the Auburn game, IMHO, was that AU looked off-game. The other half was that GT looked great. I know they were happy to break AU's 14 game winning streak, esp in Jordan Hare Stadium, or as on of the announcers said, Auburn Stadium (he had never reported an AU game).

There was some sort of ranking of the hardcore tailgating schools that came out last week (Ithink)- anyway, Georgia was the #1 tailgating school. But I bet you Dawgs already knew that, huh?

Louisville came in #5, which I found somewhat surprising, although I'm really not "attached" to the them. Maybe it's because after Card fans have had a few drinks, our football and basketball coaches' names can be interchanged- Coach Petrino/Pitino.

I attended South Carolina my freshman/sophmore years, and the best part of being a Gamecock was the slogan contests and all the cheers, bumperstickers, and everything else that came out of having Cocks as the team name. Most can't be printed here! Well, maybe I will will PM them to Sueshore...

Post them here, but just use the word Gamecocks to clean it up a bit. I have read many of your slogans in Sanford Stadium. My fav is, "You can't beat our Gamecocks." - clean version. A neighbor of mine used to have a car with a bumper sticker, which advertised a local butcher. In addition to the store's name, it read, "You can't beat our meat."

Brandon Cox will be a good one for AU when he grows up a little.

And yes, similar to USC fans, AU fans will be wearing shirts that say "you can't lick our Cox".

What about, Our DAWGS will lick your Cox! or, Our DAWGS will lick your C**KS! ?

I know that does not sound so good to some of you, but I think with as much licking as dogs do, it is very funny. :laughing1:floor:

I'm not very "up" on teams and team names - but "Beavers" is a rather lousy team name, dontcha think? Surely there are other animals in Oregon that would be suitable mascots. Are the girls' teams the "Lady Beavers"? Are the JV girls teams the "Little Beavers"? Yikes- I won't send my daughter there!

You are probably right, but whether its the Blazers or the Alley Gators, the hound dogs usually make it interesting. Let's see what the point spread is before we wager a home brew on that game.

Random football comments (love that college football):

The GT-AU game was awesome! Go Tech! It was especially sweet after all of the trash talking that we got from our AU friends for the past few months regarding this game. We were screaming so loudly in Seagrove that I'm sure we were heard all the way to Seaside.

GO GATORSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Glad we won, too.

My daughter went to MIT, and the Beavers is also their mascot. We have a lot of MIT Beavers T-shirts, etc., as people think that's rather humorous.

And speaking of the Gamecocks, when I was a grad student there, at the USC bookstore I actually found a bumper sticker that said, "You can't lick our Gamecocks!" without the word "Game." My husband wouldn't let me put it on my car - said it wouldn't be appropriate - I can't understand why. LOL.

MIT uses the Beaver mascot because beavers are such good engineers.

Let me think of a joke that I can derive from that comment ...
