I was right about Snape all along.

Merman spent all day yesterday on the porch swing reading the last book. And he's a man who doesn't read fiction!

JK Rowling doesn't mention Luna in the epilogue but I want her to be married to Neville.

OK, if you haven't turned back its your own dang fault.

For some reason I wasn't as upset as I thought I was going to be about Tonks and Lupin,

BUT COLIN CREAVY AND FRED!!! WHY?

As for the epilogue, I need to find the article that JKR wrote about it and how it will lead up to the encyclopedia and other books about the whole series.

Also, I knew Harry was going to live.

Why else would a major theme park spend 260 million to build an amusement park based on a book series unless they knew there would be a happy ending/

I too am suffering from withdrawal, but will endure it by starting over from the beginning.

As I said in other thread, now that I know what dark sinister things are happening in the background, it is no longer a sweet and innocent story.

Starting at the very beginning with that lighter......
And the motorcycle that we now know belonged to Sirius,

And why Dumbledore was asleep in the painting at the end of book six...

wow.

good stuff.

Lets discuss.

Luna ends up learning the truth about her father, runs off and marries the author of the Book of Monsters, and goes out in search of mystical creatures.

Neville becomes the herbology professor at Hogwarts.

Much much more, but I have to get ready to go to town to watch Steelers/Saints game....

Still trying to find that article, if anyone else finds it, feel free to post!!;-)

I just knew this was Pottermania, but you know I had to look! Mermy was pleasing with me to start reading these books and I declined telling her I'd read them in the HOME!

Was Fred the red headed friend of Harry? :idontno: And do not tell me I have to read it to find out!

I was upset about Fred, too. That was the one part that actually made me cry.

As far as the epilogue went, I think the book would have been better without it. It was nice to know what happens to all of our favorite characters (Ron and Hermioneare together at last!) but it just seemed like she finished the book and went, "Ah, crap, I guess I'd better write this last part so the fans don't kill me."
I think I only feel that way because the book was so intense and the epilogue was just too sugary-sweet.

Mermy, I feel the same way about Snape, I knew he was a good guy all along! And I would like to know more about Luna's post-Hogwarts adventures.

A spin-off, perhaps?

DKA, I'm waiting for my brother to finish it so I can read it again, but I'll enjoy your thread until then.

I wouldn't say that Snape was a good guy, just that he did the right thing. I was amazed, though, at how Rowling pulled that off. Spectacular.

Read the article I linked to below regarding the Luna and Neville. I agree with Rowling that it "felt too neat." I like to imagine that they probably got together and then it just didn't work out. (After all, "Luna Lovegood Longbottom" is just too much of a name. Worse than "Rupert Grint.")

I was VERY upset that Tonks and Lupin both bit it. (No werewolf pun intended.) I completely forgot that Colin died. She said she always knew that Fred was going to die. I was still grieving over George's ear when Fred was killed. I just couldn't handle it.

I think it's kind of cool that Harry died but didn't die, you know?

The portraits always slept! If you finally got a break after being a Headmaster, you'd want a little snooze yourself.

No, you're thinking of Ron. Fred and George were the older twin brothers of Ron. They were always pulling pranks and causing mischief and making everyone laugh. You couldn't help but be in love with them so that's why it was a ten hanky moment when you read that one of them was killed. It really was devistating to read that, Miss Kitty. You'd have cried buckets too. :(

Hope this helps... from a local blog.

I have finished it. SPOILER ALERT!

I think one of the reviewers in Entertainment Weekly was right, that last chapter sort of set the stage for ?Hogwarts: The Next Generation.?
And I totally saw the ?surprise? chapter, about a certain professor, coming. I predicted as much after I finished The Half-Blood Prince.

I absolutely loved that Snape did it all because he loved Harry's mom, but found the next generation o' Hogwarts ending a bit too cute and Harry's inner head NAKED sequence w/ Dumbledore weird!

My question was that if Tonks & Lupin chose Harry as the baby's godfather, why didn't he raise him?

I wondered that, too. All I could figure is that Grandma Tonks raised him, or even Lupin's parents. They were never mentioned, but it's nice to think that if Lupin's childhood was so traumatic, perhaps they were able to raise little Teddy fairly peacefully. ?

Maybe, much like Harry, there were other factors involved. It sounded as if Teddy spent lots of time in the Potter household.

First off I have also loved the series and have enjoyed the books immensely and now have a couple of questions.

What house do you think Dumbledore was in? I am guessing Gryffindor but thought it interesting that it wasn't mentioned (or did I miss it).

Second, which of the three Deathly Hallows do you think would be the best? I don't know about this one, but am leaning toward invisibility.
