HELLO SOWALLERS

So sorry this is a week late, you know how it is when you get home from vacation, I have been playing "catch up" all week.

Anyhoo..... I had a really wonderful nine day vacation that started last Thursday evening as we pulled onto highway 55 around ten PM. After a good eleven or so hours in the car and a good old waffle house breakfast, our first stop was the battleship in Alabama (not really my idea, but I enjoyed it) Quite alot of history there, but it was hot as it could be. ( saw a gator)

We stayed at the Ramada in Fort Walton Beach for one night, this place is nice, tropical grounds and a bar on the beach ! what else do you need at this point? My son Tom and nephew Shea caught quit a bit of fish off the pier and we had a hard time getting them to leave, those boys enjoy squid guts I swear to you it's very weird:roll:

On Saturday we had a great lunch at the Crab Trap at the Pier, shopped a little, then headed down 98 through destin(:yikes: ) to seagrove. Our rental home (The Heart Of Seagrove) was ready two hours early so we were able to check in around two thirty.

This house is HUGE and decorated as beautifuly as could be. The only problem was...da..da...dum.........The boardwalk was boarded up, never fixed from the hurricane, and we knew nothing about it. can anyone say FALSE ADVERTISING????? the pictures on the web site show this particular boardwalk looking ever so lovely.:pissed: ................I digress.....

Ok, so nothing can really bother a big bunch of Show me states when we are at the beach. This part of Seagrove is just wonderful, we had nice hot days, clear blue water and cold beer (that just about sums up my whole week) and the very best part was the people watching !!!! god I love staying so close to One Seagrove Place....people gawking heaven:cool: (this is funn for us don't ask me why)

All the boys went deep Sea fishing on Tuesday on the Miss Kelley out of P.C.B my son Tom caught the biggest grouper:wub:
Tuesday night we had our annual beach party with my musical friend Gene Mitchell at Calypsos Tiki bar in P.C.B....good times and one great group shot.

On Thursday which just happened to be ALLIFUNNS BIRTHDAY  I had the pleasure of meeting (very briefly cuz I was late) Allison, cork, sunshine, Tootsie (Luv this gal cuz she is short like me!!!!) Kurt (once again he said he was riv-o) both dargs and......who was in the back of their car??? oh my lord that rum has ruined my memory:confused: I so wish that I could have spent more time with them, but it's hard when you are with such a large group of friends and family, some of whom you don't even see at home.

After I saw Allison, my friends and I went to Bud & Alleys and had the best time!!! danced ALL NIGHT LONG ! then went stumbling down the stairs around two thirty....ah....good times, good times...ps. Gordon behind the bar is a little hottie.

Ktschris and company stayed in Pineapple Palace right down the beach from us, had a good time with them and because they had such a great pool and lots of kids....I hardly saw my son and daughter all week, literally they came home to eat and sleep.

Overall most of my Sowall time was spent at the beach as I think should be, sitting around with my good friends and family, making wonderful memories, sharing long talks, watching the sun set every night and thinking that this place on 30a is quite frankly a little piece of heaven:wub:

We can't wait to come back

PS.....YES RIVEROTTER I HAVE PICS !!!!! 185 to be exact;-)

Seagrovelover -

If this is the same Heart of Seagrove that's directly across the street from our Cassine Garden townhome, then you're talking about the same boardwalk I've been complaining about for over a year. It was a much-used and loved public beach access maintained by Walton County for years, fixed up after one of the hurricanes a few years ago. Then the owners of Sugar Cliffs decided THEY wanted to claim the boardwalk for their very own and filed suit with the county claiming that the boardwalk had been abandoned, no longer utilized by the public and therefore should be turned over to Sugar Cliffs for the home's private use. The wealthy owners hired an attorney. Cassine Owners Association and others joined the County in the fight to keep the boardwalk and beach access. Last year, after years of fighting, the court ruled in favor of Sugar Cliffs; Walton county, Rolling Dunes and Cassine Development appealed. The last hurricane destroyed the boardwalk a second time. Not sure if a motion has been filed for rehearing yet, but Walton County refuses (justifiably) to repair the boardwalk until (and if) a final ruling finds in favor of keeping the boardwalk public. So sad, because it's a beautiful boardwalk that was directly across from us. We now use One Seagrove, which is also a great access, but not as convenient.

Luv.....this is that boardwalk! we talked to the owners of sugar cliffs and got the whole scoop......I think it really stinks because this particular walkway leads directly to The heart of seagrove house and it's driveway. My only and real problem was that the owner of The heart of Seagrove still advertises the "old" and still standing boardwalk of yesteryear, never to mention that it isn't quite how it should be. We ended up using the Seagrove by the Sea walkway, never even knew where else we could or should go. I don't think we will return to this house next year due to the fact that there is a condo complex right nextdoor that will be bustling with cars and lots of noise, we already had to listen to construction VERY EARLY in the morning almost everyday:idontno: Thanks for your post

*the sugar cliffs owners want to put up a gate at the entrance of those two homes, they don't want anybody passing through*just a little gossip we picked up*
