I agree Audie. I feel so sorry for those little boys.

who should get the babies? does sowal even care?;-)I don't know who should get the babies... I feel for the poor little boys--I never thought with all the troubles of the current youth celebs, Britney, Paris, and Nichole, etc, that Jessica Simpson would suddenly end up looking absolutely steller!

This just gave me a great idea- K-fed and Brit need to be on Supernanny. Can y'all imagine? But I bet Supernanny can whip them into shape better than anyone!

Yes, good idea! That Supernanny skeers me!!!

I wish I woulda had a Supernanny to refer to when raisin' my kids. Bet my kids do too.
They've made it in to adulthood alive. ;-) I
Supernanny. Kinda ashamed to admit it now, after watching Supernanny, but I was a spanker occasionally. That's how we were raised too in the 60's and 70's.
The 'naughty corner' does seem more sensible. When you look around and see the likes of all these brat pack kids acting out though, it does make me wonder. Did they just need thier butts beat a couple times to straighten 'em out.
Supernanny would say that is just wrong. :nono1: I think she's right, now, especially when she shows you how to do it differently.

I don't know. it's not the first or last custody case. hope it works out best for all, especially the kids.

I think spanking and lots of discipline are the only ways to raise kids! So many brats running around because their parents can't say "no" and all they have to fear is a "timeout". I know I certainly earned and deserved all my punishments
. Lots of manual labor (worst was having to clean up the dog poo from the yard), reheated meals because I didn't finish them at a prior meal, and loss of TV.
One of my brother's friends had apathetic/absentee parents ........ he actually enjoyed getting chewed out by my parents for his bad grades, latest stupid move etc. He even gave my mother a card one mother's day!

They do seem to thrive on discipline and limits.
Maybe Supernanny could help brit and kfed since she does seem to work so well on parents. Then they can graduate to 'Trading Spouses'.

There is a big difference between a spanker and a beater. Don't be ashamed of spanking. I'll be the first to admit I didn't spank hardly ever. Fortunately, my son is relatively obedient about most things, but there is a big difference in the way he speaks/acts with me and the way I spoke/acted with my parents.
Alternative methods are great - IF you know how to apply them, and make the kids understand there are consequences to their behavior, like Supernanny (who I've never seen, but heard about). But, that doesn't come naturally. What often happens instead is kids are not learning about consequences, or about respect for adults.
btw, I vote that Mom gets the kids and takes them home to Louisiana.

hitting a child does not teach the things they need to know, IMO. but, good discipline certainly does. do you want to punish or teach? do you want your child to learn self-discipline, or do the right thing to avoid punishment?
hey, I'm still trying to figure it out with my little one. consistency is key. believe me, I want to whip is butt sometimes - but that is only my anger speaking. and I won't do it because I remember how demeaning this form of punishment is, and I don't remember it being effective in the least.
I believe the child needs to experience consequences of behavior, both good and bad, in order to really learn. we all learn from consequences of our actions and decisions. parents need to be sure the consequences are appropriate and enforced.
but whatever the parent believes is best for teaching their children takes a lot of time and work, that's what I've learned!

I didn't spank either, but I did do an awful lot of yelling (& screaming), yanking and jerking my son around. So, which is worse? As a small child, my son was never a compliant child. He was so NOT textbook. He never once sat in the naughty chair. He had a mind of his own. I used to just cry. But all in all, he now can stand his own ground in almost all situations.
But back to Britney and K-fed. Does anyone think that K-fed sees this as a meal ticket? That HE should be the full-time parent for self-serving reasons? He's no prize either. It's all pretty pathetic.

Big difference between taking a swing at a kid and giving them a swat to stop/prevent bad behavior.
I don't have kids yet, my opinions are from years as a babysitter, camp counselor, and onlooker. As a non parent, I haven't ever spanked a kid, but I get results because they KNOW 1) I mean what I say 2) They WILL be punished for misbehaving.
I think Kfed is smart enough to play the media...........and behave while his wife self destructs. I am sure that any monthly child support would be more than most of our annual salaries if he does get full custody.

JR - this sounds very familiar... teachers tell me that being "head strong" is utimately a good thing, even though it seems like a huge challenge as a parent.
my little one ends up in his bed a few times a week that may be a form of time out, but its really "taking a moment" to relax his little mind and return to his happy self. we all need that moment from time to time. little kids too.

I don't think spanking ever hurt me but it did teach me not to back talk and also to respect my parents, even if a little healthy fear was involved.
I think my kids feel the same way.
They now laugh about thier spankin's. One time, an old pediatrician who was new to us asked at a routine visit if I believed in spanking as discipline and when I answered honestly, "Yes, that's how I was raised. It never hurt me." He said spanking should only be reserved for life or death situations not things like not listening or doing what you asked or talking back, etc., only for stuff like running in front of cars or sticking things in light sockets, etc. He went on to say that spanking just for discipline was LUDACRIS
I was surprised and
a little embarassed too. I probably misspelled that but the word has stuck in my head ever since. I think there's even a band called that now, go figure. It was even more embarassing because after saying that I would occasionally see him at the work place. I started seeing a younger doctor in his same group who didn't use mean words like that. He was great with kids and parents and also just happened to look like Eddy Money, remember him?
He couldn't help it.

Oh yeah, I hope brit can keep her joint custody, isn't that what they have now?

Do you think Kfed truly wants to be the primary parent or just wants more alimony? Doesn't he have a couple of children with someone else and is he the primary parent in that relationship? Anybody?

I gave a swat to my nephews tushy at 3 when he ran out in the street once.
He never did it again,
..............but I am not sure who bawled more, me or him.
