To the "good old" Las Vegas? The "fun" Las Vegas????

I had to go to Vegas this past weekend for business. My Battalion is located there. I have been several times in the past few years and finally I had to say something!! First of all, the Down Town section is very sad. No more Lady Luck, no more $3.95 buffets, no more real music in the lounges, no more $1 and $2 dollar Black Jack tables...in fact, they have some weird kind of Black Jack:idontno: that I wanted no part of. Anyway, my reason for starting this...We had an awards ceremony at the top of the Stratosphere. Really cool, but... get this.... the menu was either chicken or prime rib. $60.00 for prime rib. It didn't cover the plate like I thought it must have to for that price, no...it didn't have gold flecks sprinkled on it either. But the most irritating thing was no where in the entire Stratosphere did they sell a good old fashion glass of iced tea!!
Neither Sweet or Unsweet. I was so angry!! Can you believe that????:bang: :idontno:
I really miss sitting in Fitzgeralds at the two dollar black jack table with a 20 dollar bill for hours on end.....

BTW...I was runner up....

...and Gulf front homes in SoWal now have an extra comma in the price. Cheeseburgers are being replaced with fancy foods (some of which I like) and fancy prices. I guess my point is that the world isn't stuck in a no-grow box.

the last time we were in vegas which has been 4 or 5 years ago, we couldn't get over how attitudes had changed at the hotels after steve wynn sold them to the mirage. it was like a complete 180 in customer service. if something was wrong, too bad so sad, if you don't like it leave someone else will take your room.

the days of the customer always being right are long long gone

Just my nightmare check-in to the Las Vegas Hilton, on my first visit, would be enough to describe my thoughts of Vegas. Then, they bumped me from room to room during my week's visit, because they were overbooked. I think they were really screwed up though because I started off in a luxury sweet, all to myself, which must have been 1200 sf plus a huge balcony. That part was nice, but after waiting in line for two hours, starting at 1:00am, then getting up to my room at 3:00am, only to find that there was a man and woman in "my room," I was a little more than pissed off with the hotel. Can you believe that when I went back to the lobby to tell the staff that someone else was in my room, they told me that those people were in the wrong room, and they told me to go back up and tell those people that they were supposed to be in the small connecting room, not the entire suite. :bang: I was pissed. By this time, it was 3:30am, and I pretty much said, "fcuk that! You tell them." blah, blah, blah,

Vegas -- so not me, but I do like the dessert around Vegas. Spent some time up in those hills.
