OK, car story...
We parked our car in the parking garage that is attached to the hotel. It was a garage that had a guard at the entrance and exit and you could not get in or out without them or the pass the hotel had given us. Anyway, after dinner while in the room Mr. IBD went to check on the car, get little IBD's stuffed animals and my laptop. All was fine- it was about midnight.
THe next morning (Sunday) we went to leave. Mr.IBD had a funny look on his face because he KNEW where the car had been parked. After he walked the WHOLE parking garage we knew what had happened. We went in and talked to security at the hotel.
After ATL police department took their time getting to the hotel we rented a car and came home. THe hotel manager and security manager were very very gracious. They have even called since the incident and are worried about us and that we will never come back to the hotel. We do not blame them, it was obviously work done by professionals.
The car insurance company (AIG) has been great (so far) and I am awaiting a call from our homeowners agent (hopefully tommorow). Of course our car was full of travel things (dvd, ipod, movies, cd's, and much much more.) so the theives not only got a nice car but lots of good stuff to boot. The sad thing is that little IBD does not understand why someone would take our (her) stuff.
I have never worried about things like this. Now unfortunately I am guarded and suspicious (sp?).
This is just one of life's punches and I will overcome this....

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....how bout dem SAINTS????

Beach Jacket just got the following email from GT:

"The Georgia Tech Police Department confirms that on Tuesday evening,
a deceased individual was discovered in a vehicle located in a
parking lot at 353 Ferst Drive. The vehicle was reported stolen in
the state of Alabama. Georgia Tech Police are working with the
Atlanta Police Department to assist with the investigation.
Additional information will be released when it becomes available.

Chief Teresa Crocker
Georgia Tech Police Department"

No wonder I ask her to call or text me to make sure she gets home safely after being out late.:yikes:

Really stinks about your car (an understatement).:bang:

I was trying to figure out what sort of relative a motem was!

That's quite a whirlwind trip! Glad you had a wonderful time.

My brother was there when Techwood Homes was still across from Grant Field, averaging a shooting per week. A University in the middle of a large city sometimes offers extra education!

Note, IBD, the car was stolen in Alabama, so I wasn't trying to infer that this had anything to do with the theft of your car. So don't worry about that. I was just trying to make the point that downtown Atlanta scares me.

Even though I complain about living in a small town, it does have its advantages in terms of safety as compared to the ATL. On the other hand, one of my smartest graduates from a few years ago just got arrested here in town for selling cocaine and marijuana. She was a successful systems analyst at a major corporation.:idontno:

Sorry about your car. Had it happen to us as well. More than likely the ins company will wait about 30 days to pay you. They are hoping the car will turn up. I very seriously doubt that will happen in Atlanta. My Burb did show up about 30 days later.

Also, your stuff in the truck. I very seriously doubt the cd's and dvd's will be covered. If there was an aftermarket dvd player in the truck or any kind of non perminately installed electronic equipment may not be covered. There are very strick and small limits on computerized eq.

Don't want to bring you down just want you to be prepared.

 glad ya'll had funn and made it back safely. I know having anything stolen, especially something as valuable and personal as your car, really makes you feel awfully violated. I'm so sorry to hear about it. Living in this small town, we sometimes forget about the bad stuff in the real world. But, you are taking care of business and off to a great new school year... you always take such good care of your family.

Glad you all made it home safe and sound! Sounds like you had a great trip. I am sorry about your car, bummer! There's been a rash of this type of "car snatching" incidents lately in Atlanta. Always from a secured parking area. I hope they can figure this out soon! :bang:

Next time you decide to come to town. Call us. You can stay with us. I can promise you, your car will be safe and we'll make sure you have lots of funn too! Hope to see you all soon.

Sorry about your car. We had a car stolen once. I know the feeling you had - - walking around the parking lot, looking in places where you knew you hadn't parked. Mr. JR's golf clubs were in the trunk too.

It was found 1 week later, totally stripped down to the frame and roof. I had left my favorite surf shop tee-shirt in there that I'd had for years, sort of a keepsake from my youth. It was still in the car. They'd used it to wipe their greasy hands on while they were stripping my car. The nerve of those a-holes.
