I just heard her announce that she has breast cancer, and had surgery a couple weeks ago. Don't know what kind. God bless her. She seems so nice, and did a lot for her Mississippi community after Katrina.

She is actually from Louisiana;she played college basketball at Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond. Her sister Sally Ann co-hosts the local CBS morning show in New Orleans. Hope Robin is OK, the Roberts seem like such a nice family.

Oh, thanks for the correction, skunkster. I knew she was instrumental and filmed from her hometown, but it was Hammond, huh? I think I got her and Steve McNair's home states mixed up. He helped his hometown too. Thank you. I hope she does good too, and comes through this with ease and minimal sickness. Must be very scary dealing with breast cancer. This morning she focused on men with breast cancer. This man who had it passed the gene on to both his daughters who also got it. Anyhow, Robin is a good role model for women, I think, IMHO. She seems so honest and open in her reporting.

I thought she was from Biloxi but guess she just went to HS there.

I'm a faithful GMA viewer and I was surprised to hear of her cancer. Breast cancer runs in my family (mother, maternal aunt, etc.) So here's what I'd like to know about Robin's cancer - - it was announced, then she was out for 1 week for her surgery. Then back to work. No details, which are understandably personal and not necessary for all to know. But I have not heard what sort of follow-up treatment she will have, if any. I'm guessing she must've had a lumpectomy.

She's a lucky girl to have caught this so soon! I immediately called my breast surgeon and made my past due appointment for my ultrasound/mammogram, etc., because of Robin's news.

I saw the announcement a few weeks ago, maybe a month, and too scheduled my past due mammogram. She announced that she felt the lump in the shower and then immediately scheduled an appointment. I honestly can't remember is she is supposed to have chemo or not. I will be following, and I am thankful for her honesty as it was a reminder for me.

At my mammo yesterday, the radiologist said that a lump that is a problem feels like the end of your nose---hard. Other breast tissue may feel like your eye when felt w/ your eyelid closed.

I am waiting for the all clear, as the screener said I would probably have to come back for an ultrasound.....ugghhhh.....

I forgot.....one thing she mentioned was that 90% of the breast cancer cases have no family history......wow.....eyeopening for me.

As to what state she is a native of, the following article may help.
