I've lived here going on 16 years in thru that time have noticed signs popping up claiming Private Beach. I know where I stand on this issue but would love to get input from locals as well as visitors. So my question is Private or Public?

It really has more to do with law than feeling. The beaches draw people to this area and if they are taken away (the public has used them without incident in the past), this place will dry up quickly.

It will either dry up quickly or be taken over by condos.

From a visitor... In a word... Public... definitely.

That being said public has the connotation that the Beach can be overrun and overcrowded. Have you seen photos of crowded Beaches on a Holiday weekend?

There is a level of control that should be enforced. The Beach is a finite resource and it just can't be controlled by private interests if they won't share it.

Someone posted on the other thread that Hawaii goes by , Native Law, which says the beach is for everyone, I think it also mentions respecting her.

I believe Walton County has laws about wet tee-shirt contest and girls getting naked in public. That photo is probably from PCB spring break in front of La Vela with naked drunk girls on stage.

I love that Native Law. I wonder how this Private Beach was started? Were people sold on the idea that they owned it? Any answers?

some lawyer, trying to prevent liability lawsuits most likely started it. Lawyers, can't kill them, and can't eat them. Any suggestions?:idontno:
