We have had no rain here at my house in almost a month until today. Since I'm only 1/16th Cherokee, I don't know about rain dances, but I will take full credit for the wonderful soaking rain we are getting right now.

In order to bring this about, I have spent the last few days
  • Washing my car
  • Setting up alternate methods of saving my trees (reusing household "gray" water)
  • Otherwise adjusting for long-term drought

Taken together, these sorts of measures virtually guarantee rain.

Had this storm skipped us, I was planning to
  • Do some exterior painting
  • Wash my car again
  • Plan a series of large outdoor events

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

Hmmm.... The modern rain-dance? :idontno:

So I guess I am going to go outside in a few minutes and -
  • Water the plants.
  • Rinse off the car.
  • Clean windows on the outside.
  • Hose off my porch.
I'll report back if it works. :D

NoHall, we had tons of gray water in our basement yesterday when the washer overflowed. I yelled to Merman to collect the buckets and throw all the water onto my flowering crabtree just outside the basement, and I had to give him the evil eye before he'd do it. He thought I was evilly planning on killing the tree. Can you believe it?

Remember that really severe drought in Georgia about 16 or 17 years ago? We were all told to re-use gray water. I was so young and earnest that I carried buckets of tub water from upstairs every day! Man, no wonder I have such healthy looking bicepts and calf muscles. ;-)

Crossing my finger's that me thinking about the modern rain dance is working. (OK I never actually did the things on the list --- but I really though about it.)

Has anyone else seen the storm coming South from AL to Sowal? Looks like it might could rain 'morrow too!

Quick someone else start listing what they "plan" to do since it hasn't rained!
