Subject: camping 101
The place is a lot like Pawtuckaway used to be when we were kids. It was very hot, but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. I have decided that camping is a lot like a wedding.....takes forever to get ready for, over in a flash, a big mess to clean up, and the disasters you can laugh at is what you remember the most.
Here are some thoughts on it:
1) bring enough matchlight to roast a hog, especially when it is the only cooking surface.
2) t-shirts and underwear get changed more than anything else.
3) bacon does not cook well on a grill.
4) when in doubt, bring it, but remember you have to wash it when you get home.
5) ice never melts as fast as you need it to. And then melts too fast.
6) you can never have enough batteries. Or flashlights.
7) always pack two cars, even when there is only parking for one.
8) bees like food, especially when you want to eat it.
9) at the end of summer, the forest is devoid of sticks, so bring some.
10) no one gets any sleep camping, so stay up all night reading. And make coffee. really strong. really, really strong.
Need I say more? And to think that we want to do this again...I wouldn't want to miss those smores for anything.

What can I say? My sister marches to the beat of her own drummer.

Thanks for the "list" I hope to go camping (seriously) this fall....
